I tried Avast free, comodo firewall and sandboxie. Not really sure what was causing the issue but with avast, my browser would be slower to open and run some pages. I have an older laptop (Dell e1505) I wanted something either AV free or cloud based. I do like OA though. Maybe if I tried it with that rather than comodo it would help.

Comodo FW and Avast is a no go for me too, because Comodo uses very often and even on idle 40-50% CPU.And i experience this behavior with another AV's as well, like BitDefender,AVG,Norton,Bullguard. It seems that with Panda Cloud indeed Comodo FW doesn't have any issues.I like Avast a lot, that's why i tried it with OA and it seems that after almost a week this is a winner combination for me.:thumb:

Comodo uses a lot less resources on my XP Pro SP3 system than OA.
PrivateFirewall would be much closer (and perhaps a bit lower) in overall RAM and CPU usage. That said, the interactions of various security (and other) apps on any system are a crap shoot.

My current setup runs well with Comodo or PrivateFirewall but will not play nicely if OA is substituted (and it had been my favorite of all previously). OA would use high levels of CPU sporadically for longish periods which made it bothersome and noisy. I don't have that issue with either PF or Comodo firewall (even with D+, Proactive Security and Sandbox enabled).

    Go figure.

    Blue,
Yeah its odd that some things work differently for people with different AV's/programs. I ran OA premium for a long time and thought I never had a problem until I started trying different firewalls and different AV's. Finding a good combo is not as easy as someone saying this works great together! What may work for me and my system might stink on yours. I have noticed that OA does run a little heavy for me.
When I added avast free to comodo, it slowed down my browsing and startup of the browser. I never had that issue with PCAV Pro. Sandboxie does slow the startup a little and I'm thinking that Avast's web shield is to blame. I can't really prove that but it doesn't happen with other AV's.

Removed MBAM PRO as it's overkill for me. Webroot SecureAnywhere has proven to be more than enough for my needs.

You use it on demand instead of running it realtime. Just a suggestion.

I agree The Hammer. No need to remove MBAM, it is great as an ondemand scanner.
