I have the pretty much the same setup after installing Vista SP1. It runs smooth as glass now without all of those antimalware programs that clogged up XP.

I feel very secure with UAC on, IE protected mode on, NOD32, WinPatrol, Windows firewall plus Raxco's FD-ISR and ShadowProtect for problems with testing software or hard drive failure. I even dumped Firefox, at least until the final v3 comes out. Vista SP1 has been very stable and responsive after spending some time getting the drivers setup properly.

I was even able to port it over from my RAID 0 desktop to my laptop using SP's HIR function. It took a little tweaking with DriverGenius, but was much easier than reinstalling all of my programs.

Are you going to answer prompts or write firewall rules?

I'm a fan of free products. I use the apps in my sig and keep it all running nicely with CCleaner, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, and Acronis True Image Personal V8 Free. Works well for me.

Maybe not. If all programs working fine then I can change my OS totally. 2k is much lighter than XP (or Vista).

I know Mike,i was a late convert to XP coming from 2000,i liked it but changed to XP,why ? i don't know. maybe a litle following of the fashion at that time.
But if Xp drags your system then perhaps some newer hardware is needed.;)

I have finished my VirtualBox tests and now it's time for real system test. Everything working fine with VB but I think that there might come some problems with bluetooth and wireless. I have to say that tweaked installation and ghostwall, defensewall, sandboxie and shadow defender running memory usage is 65MB :D

EDIT: Actually this is my first time when I test 2k.

EDIT: My system is fine but I want that it's blazing fast. Core Duo laptop with 2GB ram. 7200rpm HDD and NVIDIA Quadro. 1920x1200 15,4" Widescreen.

Thanks for this information. Just downloaded and it's time to test it.

EDIT: There is bug in Resource Protection. I have New Rich Text Document.rtf file in my C:\Documents and Settings folder so DW protects C:\Documents and Settings\New Rich Text Document.rtf\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox under firefox.exe.

i don't have quite the large and complex setup as i don't really believe you need that much software to protect your computer provided you know how and what your surfing. I've got so far:
Firewall / HIPS : Comodo Firewall Pro with Defence +
    Anti-malware: S & D 1.5.2
    Anti-virus: Avast Home
Browser: FF with No Script, Adblock plus, Keyscrabler 2.0, WOT, various other addons (non security related)

i have tor and proxomitron installed but rarely use them, i can't really think of anything else i could/really need to install to keep a computer clean and up and running.

I just found very good deal. Buy Roboform Pro with 20% discount ($23.95) and get MailWasher Pro for free. Both products comes with lifetime license. I'm not sure if I get Benign for free too.
