Had to remove Emsi from one of my desktop computers. For some reason it's the same problem as I had with Mamutu earlier on a different machine, the Emsi Guard was putting Iron in either the "monitored" or "blocked" list. I don't think that was the only issue though as many apps would become unresponsive and a reboot or hard reboot would be required.

I don't know what to do now as far as using an av. Maybe I'll give MSE a shot. It has few extra features but it seems like the fewer features means fewer potential problems with my computers. I think I've tried about every av out there...I have a Kaspersky ISS license, maybe I'll try that. Is anything significant disabled in Kaspersky ISS in 64 bit machines (Windows 7)?

I've got sandboxie as well, just hardly ever use it. Maybe I'll start using it more and an on demand scanner (HMP and MBAM). Is there an up to date tutorial about saving bookmarks in browsers that are running sandboxie? I have plenty of bookmarks I have to save every day as part of my work.

    thanks

Yes they are quick to respond and have always given good support. I like Emsi and Mamutu. But this, overall, is probably significant problem #4 or 5 over the past 6 months and I think most of the problems are issues with Mamutu aka Guard in Emsi. It's just time to move on for a while IMO. I'll check back with Emsi in the future but for now I need a break.

as it's been occurring for the past 6 months, I think it'd persist when and if you try emsi again after a break as it would still be the same emsi and the system...I'd suggest you work things out with the support team and solve this damn prob once and for all.....

I had a serious problem with OA installer back in February 2011, i decided to wait for future versions to see if it was fixed. Then in June 2011 after many failed installs i decided to contact Emsisoft about it and they worked personally with me to fix it, in around 2 weeks after reporting it and sending at least 5 reports with dump files etc, it was fixed!! :D :thumb:

They created special builds just for me to test if the problem continued until it was fixed, then they released the patch!! Woooo. :D
That's why in July i pulled the trigger and purchased a few licenses. :thumb:
    Well worth it.

I removed Malware Defender and installed Eset AV and put UAC on max. Got to get used to not using HIPS.

Whilst Webroot SecureAnywhere has a light footprint, it seems to work my laptop unnecessarily hard when web browsing (specifically CPU usage). I'm guessing this has something to do with the Identity Shield. Because of this, I've gone back to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012, which feels lighter, believe it or not.

Back to SpyShelter Firewall with browsers restricted. Also added MBAM pro on demand with OpenDNS. Think I'll stick with this for the time being.

I just added WSA essentials, norton DNS w/ porn/family filtering, chrome w/ adblock plus and https everywhere, running under LUA, on win xp pro. That was a fresh install for a client. She wanted her old laptop cleaned out for her kids. Its an older HP pav laptop. Its actually really fast. I was surprised. I was concerned that it wouldn't have enough security but norton filters out a lot of bad stuff. LUA should keep the kids from installing anything stupid. All in all a nice light setup.
