Thank you for the suggestion, I haven't tried AVG yet. Mainly I want a simple lightweight AV to check downloads after uncompressing them in the sandboxed download folder and before taking them out. I do a lot of downloading for game mods and flight sim planes and scenery, probably averaging something like 10 files a day. It's usually done from reputable sites, but reputable sites can always get hacked temporarily.

Detection rates, low false positives, and then lightness are what I'm looking for. Using those criteria, a person (okay, me  ) can spend a lot of time comparing the charts at the top of this thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=316605

Interesting...I remember when Pure was about to be released, numerous Kaspersky folks said it was impressive but I haven't heard much lately.:)

Added Calomel SSL Validation add-on to Firefox.

I'm not making many changes to my security setup these days... ever since adding Sandboxie.

Never did get a chance to try the new Avira 12 Premium so I blew the dust off my still good Avira license and am giving a whirl. So far things are going quite well. One thing though, you can sure tell the difference running a full AV on your box versus the cloud with WSA or Panda...  :D

Whilst I like Kaspersky and its out of the box settings, it's just a little too heavy for me. I think I'm going to rely solely on MBAM PRO, Sandboxie and a good dose of common sense.
