I have to admit I found the regedit tweak to bring Windows 7 start menu back and it also got rid of the ribbon look. Since I'm using it mostly for laptop and desktop, I'm probably going to stick with the Win 7 look. For me it's just a quicker and visually easier experience.

I'm really liking metro. Took me a night to get used to it but now that I am it seems fairly efficient. I just need to figure some more things out with it.

I haven't tested the application reputation yet though.

If you can run Windows 7 you can run Windows 8. 1ghz single core + 1GB RAM.

I have 2 gigs, but no W7 disk. As soon as the economy picks up that is my next purchase.

Back to square one. Felt kind of naked without some sort of real time anti virus program so it's back to Avast with 3 shields, file system shield, network shield and behavior shield. Also back to my old favorite firewall, Private firewall. And of course the corner stone of my set up.....Sandboxie. Firefox is my browser with the following extensions, adblock plus, keyscrambler, perspectives, quickJS (can enable or disable java script), traffic light and wot. Java is completely gone and have it installed virtualized with sandboxie and have a separate sandbox for java. Lastly, preferred dns is Norton and alternate is Comodo.

I like (and use) a lot of what you are running in your setup.
I might have to look closer at how you are handling Java.

Used Security Essentials for a year passed with flying colors, I highly recommend it as it stopped everything that attacked my machine. Yesterday I reinstalled Avira free to give it another go around, sure made a lot of enemies in a years time. That's unfair as I see every vendor as having some sort of problem most have done things not so above board if they haven't they aren't human, they just haven't been caught "My Opinion" Other than that I'm using Comodo firewall with Defense + Windows defender and Win Patrol. :D

Ilya really is top notch when it comes to one on one support. He fixed a problem I was having with Google Chrome not syncing when running as Untrusted. This fix will now be in the next version of DefenseWall.

At the present time I don't java installed virtually or on the real system. I find that I rarely need it except for a couple of crossword puzzles that need it in order for them to function. Then I might use the Java sandbox with iexplorer but even that has become a rarity. Did you have something else in mind Page42 ?
Oh, since we are both sandboxie users I wanted to ask you about eraser as I seen you made numerous post in the sandboxie forum about it. Do you still find it takes a long time to delete the sandbox using eraser ? I am currently using eraser 5.7 US DoD 3 passes which seems to take somewhat of a long time to erase at times. Any thoughts on this as well ?

I have hit a happy spot with SBIE and Eraser SDelete 1.51.
(Frankly, I'd forgotten I changed from Eraser!)
It doesn't take anywhere near as long as it was taking when I was posting for help.
Back then it didn't matter if I was using Eraser or SDelete, as I recall.
It now takes about 10-20 seconds, and compared to the lengthy times I was encountering, this is very acceptable.
Changing browsers (IE to Chrome) seemed to make the difference, but I never did ask if that sounded feasible to tzuk and the folks over there.
Tzuk also made SBIE compatible with a newer version of Eraser, but I haven't tried it out yet.
    Thanks for asking. :)

Good setup. But pity geswall is not updated that often. I'm waiting for their 64bit support, but "coming soon" is all that I've got so far.o_O

YW. Yes, sandboxie is compatible with eraser 6 now. I think I might follow suit and give SDelete a try again to see if there is any difference. Laterzz.

    Outpost Firewall Pro
    Defensewall Personal Firewall
    Sandboxie Pro
    Prevx SafeOnline

    On demande : MBAM

I might go for another AV, as it seems Prevx has not been doing well in tests recently. Maybe Emsisoft, I don't know what's the best AV at the moment.
