Hi, guys. Haven't posted for a while. I'm running now AVG AV pro 2012 and liking it so far. Anyone with experience running AVG AV together with Webroot SA beta, are they getting along well? Wondering what to complement AVG with. Probably a compatible firewall as at the moment I'm a bit tired of using sandboxing or policy based software and would prefer not to for some time. Anyone that have tried AVG AV with Online Armor?

Thanks that's good to know even if it's a long time to the release, and if i'm still with Windows by then :doubt:

But before you turn it off why don't you go hunting for some malware to see how it protects you? You know there hasn't been any malware written for Windows 8 yet so I bet it will last a long time.....:p

    Haha, I bet it won't =p

Sandboxie doesn't work (installs via compatibility mode but won't run) but EMET does.

I see, let's hope that Tzuk got a plan for you. :)
Why don't MS just build in EMET or a similar feature at least into W8 :doubt:

Comodo Internet Security 5.5 (FW,D+) - password protected
Avast Free AV (just installed it today and need to play around with it)
UAC at max. with password protection
EMET at max. and most programs added
    NortonDNS/ComodoDNS/OpenDNS (cant decide yet :D)

Also checking out Applocker now. I think thats all I will ever need. Free, secure and lightweight (I hope I made the right choice by replacing Comodo AV with Avast AV).

sanboxie was causing me BSOD on my win7 prof x64 system so i uninstalled it :/

    also I have comodo sandbox?

And I'm not sure what kind of protection sandboxie even brings. Yes it isolates programs from my real system.. but why would I need to isolate skype/msn/media player classic/.. ?

What I hoped to be able to do with sandboxie was to completely isolate firefox from my real system so nothing that gets executed on my real system, could steal data from firefox. But that doesnt work :S

@edit: i'm not sure how to configure avast free av when using comodo fw and d+ :S

The reason isolate those programs is because they can be hijacked or used to download malware. Sandboxie keeps them separated from the rest of your system.

I would hope that CIS protects my programs from injected/hijacked :S

Anyway.. I guess I would use sandboxie but it won't work on my system :( 3 days, 3 BSODS.. already reported in their forum.

Hungry Man, maybe you can tell me what files you added to comodo sandbox so that java always runs in comodo sandbox?

And why not using comodo sandbox instead of sandboxie?

You should try the beta if you are having BSOD's.

I just added java.exe to the sandbox. I also hava a javaw.exe and javaws.exe as well as their 64bit counterparts.

I could not get Java to run in Sandboxie without also sandboxing Chrome, which I didn't want to do.

EDIT: And CIS can protect you on some level.

Which restriction level do you use for the java files in comodo?

    thanks
