This is posted on their webste and was discussed here on Wilders. So far no indication of a last minute reprieve.
"Effective September 1, 2011, GFI's ClearCloud DNS service will be discontinued and no longer available for consumer use. While we have many loyal ClearCloud DNS users, we have found that most customers prefer the more robust web filtering solution available as a feature in our VIPRE Premium product. We would like to thank all of the beta testers for their valuable feedback throughout this last 12 month evaluation period. To discontinue using the ClearCloud DNS service, you will need to reconfigure your network connection. If this is not done prior to September 1, 2011, your Internet connectivity will be interrupted."

I honestly hope before they shut it down they start redirecting web requests to a Sunbelt page with instructions on how to remove ClearCloud. I feel bad for everyone who got ClearCloud installed by a techie friend and they don't even know they have it.

I kinda forgot I had norton and clearcloud both as primary and alternate DNS servers. I thought norton was set on both. I was testing some links on my main system, not on VM (stupid), when clearcloud popped up and blocked something.

Installed Privatefirewall on one machine and currently training it.
Very nice firewall, very configurable too.
    No slowdowns.
Using some of bellgamin's recommended tweaks.

Didn't see any slowdowns when I used it either. Just had one annoying bug when you play a pc game full screen it would popup an alert and crash the game. Hopefully they fix that, otherwise very good firewall in my eyes. :thumb:

I'm thinking about ditching my HIPS and AV. Since I'm on XP I will still need a 3'rd party outbound FW though. If there is a FW lighter than Comodo that has similar, granular rule setting, I'd like to use it.

Then I'd just use that FW, Sandboxie, and some on demand scanners like Hitman Pro, MalwareBytes & SAS. Along with of course "what's already built into the OS", and a hardened Firefox. I want my system as light as possible while still feeling safe, and I must say I'd feel pretty darned safe with just Sandboxie, outbound filtering and an image "just in case".

And iVPN is staying, since I notice no slowdown in my browsing speed at all with single-hop, and very slightly with multi-hop. I've never been disconnected in 2 weeks of using it now... not once. And it just makes me feel safer, like Big Brother isn't looking through that tele-screen at me now.

No I haven't, but it's on the top of my list from browsing the threads in here (including this very page).

It fits the criteria I've laid out?

Then I shall give Private Firewall a try. Thank you very much. First I'll try Comodo with "just" the FW, then PFW to compare footprints. If the latter is lighter and rule setting is similar (simple & granular), then I'll stick with it.

Found that KIS 2012 was increasing boot times a little too much for my liking, so I've installed the 90-day trial of NAV 2011 whilst I decide what to use next.
