Re-did my nice Windows setup for less maintenance. I'd be using Linux from now on. Windows will be my family's OS.

Windows 7 Pro for Family Setup:

    EMET
    Trusteer Rapport
    MBRGuard
    Returnil System Safe FREE 2011
    Sandboxie FREE

    Linux Mint 10 "Julia" setup:

    Firewall enabled and Fully Updated.

For a week or so I'm back to my mostly used and very light and glitch-free set-up. It's in my signature.

Just switched from MSE and Windows Firewall to AIS 6.

I had no problems with my previous setup, I just felt like something new to "play" with.

This is on a Windows 7 home premium x64 system with the OS on pretty much all defaults.

EDIT: Forgot, I also have Hitman Pro (set to perform quick scan on boot) and MBAM installed. I do an on demand scan about once per month or two.

I really think Safezone with the safe desktop has got to be one of the coolest new ideas this year.

I must admit that it's kinda neat. I like the ease of the sandbox as well. Whether I make use of them or not is another question...but, nice to have available :)

Uninstalled Outpost security suite free. Reinstalled Comodo firewall defense+ and ClearCloud dns and disabled host file.

On 2 computers, Sandboxie and Hitman Pro. This is about as skimpy as you can get as I have no real time protection but all outbound apps in Sandboxie. My computer feels like it has been given a dose of Hydroxycut, but since this setup is 24/7 and email open at all times in the sandbox, I want to see how my memory holds up over time.

as light as one can get and still think, they are protected.

I was only testing it to see if it got along with Geswall which it did. However, my computer did freeze on me a couple of times when I did an individual scan for malware via right click on a couple of different downloads.
I was mainly interested in the Outpost firewall and it's too bad that you can't just install it without the AV.
Went back to Comodo firewall along with Geswall and everything is running smooth.

I can't bring myself to run as light as you, trjam.
I still have the FW/HIPS addiction, and I hate running without Prevx... so there you have it.

What's with the letters beside the version? I can't seem to find out the meaning of those letters.

For On-demand, I would suggest: Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware or Hitman Pro. KIS already resolved that SAS compatibility issue.

Prevx is very good and may be what I use on a daily basis on the other 2 computers with Sandboxie.

But I am starting to realize like others, AVs just dont get it by themselves.

Yeah I realized that too. About 2 months ago. I was obsessed with detection rates. Now I could really careless.
