No, the restricted mode feature is only available for x86 systems.

I am running it on my x64 Win 7 currently.

I removed SpyShelter, so my setup looks here: Returnil Virtual System Pro, Prevx 3 (paid), PrivateFirewall, Mbam on-demand.
    Runs very smoothly.

MSE lasted less than 24 hours, just too resource intensive. I open my 'Backup' folder (containing exe and rar files) and MsMpEng.exe kicks up to over 80% CPU until all icons are displayed. Terrible.

Back to avast! Free now. Is it just me, or is avast! by far the best free AV going? (In my ever so humble opinion of course.)

I'm running MSE #1 on both 32 bit & 64 bit computers, I have decided to wait until MS 'stage' my upgrade. Is MSE 2.0 much more resource hungry than #1?

I have my relatives using MSE since v1, including beta version, and there were/are no issues regarding performance. They actually say is the lightest antivirus they ever had on their systems.

That has been one of the two annoyances I have with MSE and MS refuses to address it. I am seeing this even on a Core i5 + 4GB DDR3 and 7200 RPM HDD. In MSE 2 you can avoid this behavior by changing real time protection to - Scan Incoming files only, though this brings its own trade-offs with it.
You are not alone in thinking that.;)

I did consider doing this, but don't fancy weakening a product just to get it running "right". Oh well, avast! is zipping along nicely as usual :)

Well although SpyShelter worked fine, I found it a tad too noisy. I want protection but something that works nice and effectively in the background. I'm trying Zemana Antilogger. See if that's any quieter.
