    Got myself these two:

    KAV 2011 6 months
McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 6 months

Tested them out. happy with McAfee so far.. hogs the RAM alot compared to AIS 5. KAV is a disaster to me.. Slow update, Very Slow bootup, Opening files, and browsers took a little longer..

    Shadow Defender.

i dont expect SD to be replaced anytime soon on my machine unless a competitor makes a similar product that is just as good, IMO.

also, Norton DNS since it doesnt use any resources.

    That is it!

I will test for myself new AV products trials...not on viruses, just on speed - (boot, browsing, opening and working with other applications, opening AV interface)...I'm fun of performance. Right now using only configured Sandboxie, and last 1.5 years beside Sandboxie was only Prevx on long period, - nice couple. (do I have to tell 0 viruses in that period)

I got fresh Acronis image of my system partition and will not be problem to do some testing...only try to see which AV takes less time in everyday use, because maybe I will put one day one of them on my computer. My laptop always running fast even if it's not strong on RAM (1,5 GB) and CPU (1.6 GHz), i don't have useless processes, and bloatware programs, some system services turned off... Results I will post also here somewhere.

    Planning to test:

KAV 2011 (custom install - without mail junk, alleged faster)
    Norton AV
McAfee AV(@eugene91 here said it's fast)
    Panda AV ( 11 processes  )
    Eset NOD AV
    Avast 5 AV
    Avira
    Bitdefender
    Trend Micro
    Vipre

No traditional resident av, light, simple and very secure: sandboxed browser, virtualization, HIPS, on-demand scan, and just in case... imaging:thumb:

I´m thinking in replacing Avast for MSE, that way i could use Sandboxie as a primary defense, and MSE only scanning downloaded files (keep "Scan all downloads" and disable the rest, except, maybe,"Enable Network Inspection System")

I think that may be a secure and very light setup, since it doesn´t have a resident shield constantly scanning all files.

But was wondering if MSE even with the resident shield off, really is lighter than Avast free with all the shields on...
I´m saying this because Avast is really really light and i didn´t heard that MSE is a ligh av.

I dont know if even with the real time turned off, the services, processes, etc. that MSE launches, will make him heavier on the sistem -Win7 x64- than Avast with shields turned on.

    What do you guys think?
    Thanks!

Experimenting with Limited User Account and a Software Restriction Policy using Parental controls on Win 7 Home Premium. Working very well so far. Very strong protection using no additional system resource. Parental Controls gives a whitelist only of programs allowed to run.

I've set mine to monitor only incoming files, which means it only scans new files within the system, not existing ones.
The default setting (monitor all files) makes it heavier than Avast.

That's my solution, too, with slight variation: LiveMail is also sandboxed, a very light HIPS, and daily scheduled scans with both Hitman Pro and MBAM Pro.

Added Malware Defender to my set-up. I couldn't stand it without a regular HIPS and anti-executable. So far everything is lean and conflict-free. Do you think it's an overkill? What would you ditch as unnecessary? I'd appreciate comments.
