Finally, after quite a lot of thinking added Prevx paid with SOL to my set-up. Now it is NOD32 latest, Defensewall personal firewall and Prevx with UAC at max and Windows firewall on. I think I'll stay with that for quite some time except in case of problems. Any settings that I have to change in order for the combo to work flawlessly? (added Prevx and Defensewall to NOD32 exclusions and set self-defense in Prevx to Medium).

jmonge your awesome. Thanks! I was looking at trying this out but never found the time. Of course free makes it that much easier to try.

    My security setup these days?
Aside from beta-testing ClearCloud DNS it is unchanged.

Really interesting assembled security setup you have there, dja2k.

I would be interested, if you wouldn't not mind, to see you to expand a bit more on your reasoning for putting together your particular setup. And if it is working to your satisfaction (security level, lightness and no slowdown, or incompatabilies with some other software that you would have like to mix in, etc).

    Thanks for your help.

Everything works great with no slowdown nor incompatibilities! If you go to the start of this thread, you will see that I've always used Online Armor and along the way I got Sandboxie which I won't go without either. I added Shadow Defender and a Virtual Machine for further testing, etc. MBAM is mainly there for its IP blocking, plus its spyware protection can't hurt. I just recently added Mamutu to the mix just to see it fill in some gaps. The rest is just your normal hardening with Hosts, Blacklists, and some further tweaking of the system. Honestly I don't even remember the last time anything bypassed my security. I've had my share of changing and mixing up software, but now its mainly the same setup with an occasional change here and there.

Are you aware that W7 changes its TCP/IP stack by itself and it doesnt need the patch that you have applied?

Are you referring to the Vista TCP\IP patch? I installed it just for what it states here: The SG Vista TCP/IP patch us a quick way to optimize Vista TCP/IP settings for broadband internet connections. It is not a patch to remove the limit of half-open TCP connections.

That only applies to Vista. Windows 7 auto optimizes the TCP/IP stack.

Yeah I saw that, guess it just carried over from my Vista days. Though I did find it change two entries which is maybe why I kept it. Oh well thanks for noticing.

    So far...

Sandboxed everything I could, and only allowed internet access to Iron, which is sandboxed.

Used comodo to stealth my ports, and changed most of its settings back on (on a laptop)

Trying to figure out how to change one single rule in MD. The only thing I seem to be able to do, is change ALL. So far, i've been adding rules in, but if i cant change it, im going do ditch it.

Sorry, could you say it again? It's like this old fallacy going by: "Hey, I am the biggest lyier in the known world, promised!"

Look me, I would like to say that it is my 600th, but check my ticket number now, just by trying to say that here...

    {o pun intended, only old monty python's minding}

I have been trying lots of different security combinations lately, and I know how well-thought-of Online Armor is here. You are right, that last set-up was good, except that VMware seemed to get into the system a little too deep. Don't ask me why I say that, since it is just a feeling. I know that's not the best thing to go on, but I'm not really a tech guy and can only go on how things feel on my computer, the published tests, and what people have to say here. If you'd like to comment further, I would like to know why you said what you did.

well I want trying to be a smart a## though it may have come across that way, so I apologize. But what you ended up with will never replace what you had. I like Eset, and the added programs you gave up to me, are not made up by OA.

Eset with a good back up, or VMware is very light and solid.

I never have been, nor will be a big fan of my firewall supplying all my needs.
