Yeah I got a free license too. I tried it out and I wasn't too impressed. It gave me about 4 FP of really common programs. Speedy fox and revo uninstaller were two of them. I might try it again at some point.

Yet another change. (A Wilders user changing setup, who woulda thunk it?)

I've stopped running as a standard user and am now running as a PA (Protected Administrator) as I'm constantly installing/uninstalling software as well as other system modifications. Because of this, I've gone back to running NAV 2010. I chose NAV because it runs ultra-light and has excellent detection rates MSE.

Edit: Switched to MSE; it seems finally to be running nice and light.

Well the Ashampoo experiment did not last long on the laptop. Right now I'm back to Avast 5 and Online Armor Premium. I would think that is enough considering OA's HIPS, even though I have some personal doubts about the Avast behavior shield.

I have Vista Basic on the laptop. Would/should the Avast 5 free version and OA Premium combo be enough? I have Malwarebytes paid version but running it alongside the others just eats enough CPU to become annoying.

I've been thinking about trying out Comodo IS with Avast 5 as my av and dumping OA for a while. Would that be worth while? Or is there some super light weight behavior monitor I could download to run alongside my OA/Avast combo? It can't be Threatfire as I've had keyboard problems with it on this rig. Any other available? I would go for Prevx paid I suppose if it were on sale again somewhere. Or the free version is ok for a few things I guess.

    Acr1965,
Give the CIS complete a try. I was surpirsed that with everything set up it caught alot of malware. If the AV didn't catch it D+ would speak up. Of course it was sandboxed if it was unknown. Its very light too. Pair it up with MBAM or zemana and your good to go.

I might do that. What about CIS Complete but use Avast 5 instead of Comodo av?

No just use the whole thing. AV and all. You might want to use a on demand scanner like MBAM or SAS. You can even run panda cloud or immunet with it if you feel like a second opinion.

No it looks pretty good. Thats what I was using for a while and never had a problem. I ditched Safeonline and add zemana. Only because I had a free license. I also added sandboxie instead of wondershare time freeze.
