Hitman Pro ( for daily scans )
Chrome ( for daily browsing, disabled 3rd party cookies )
in the process of restoring to factory settings and starting allllll over but i have a big issue if anyone wants to shed some knowledge let me know
back to Eset
Not all that experienced, been reading here a few days and just trying to be safer.
AV - KAV 9.0 (expires relatively soon, not sure what I will do but I have no problems with KAV)
FW - Online Armor (free)
Malwarebytes (free) soon to be paid
I am by no means a power user. Put bluntly I might be the most ignorant member here when it comes to security. All that I use is very recent. Up until about a week ago I used Zone Alarm free and Avira (which just has to many FP for my taste)
I added Malwarebytes and SAS along with OA after reading here for what seems like hours upon hours. Cannot thank you folks enough for this site and the knowledge you possess. Anything I might need to consider please feel free to let me know.
@Tremortality: What OS are you using?
I am using Vista 32bit........
you may need some proective aproach to your set up a hips, sandbox with antivirus/firewall will be a strong security aproach my 2 mexican pesos
err if you are talking to me I will continue reading about what you suggested (noob here) but willing and eager to learn. As for hips does my OA not offer this? Please forgive the ignorance.. Sandbox I am looking into as we speak but not sure what yet to try. I will soon enough.. Thanks
yes OA for hips or mamutu as behabiour blocker or even threatfire
also defensewall and PE Guard
one thing i can testify it is that DefenSeWall is protecting my other 2 computers for almost 2 years and zero-virus near here now DW has firewall, sandbox type software and a good one and development is very active and ilya gives good customer support to it's clients
Roger that, thanks. Off to read more about sandbox, as it sounds nice.. thank you again.
LUA/SRP/ACL/DEP/ACL works on XP I thought only DEP works on Xp? everything else is for vista no??
I'd keep it simple and just add Sandboxie.
Thanks for the info
Will do, thanks to both of you for the assistance.
just tested mbam pro with malware and i think it deserve to be here in my pc
i put all my security arsenal to the test againts a RootKit call sfz.exe
tested prevx,blue point security,mbam pro,superantispyware,hitman pro,appranger and PE Guard 2.1
AppRanger fail to detect it ,SaS ,mbam Pro ,BpS
prevx ,hitman pro PE Guard
with Pe Guard was nice to see that the rootkit tried to install/load other files(malware)prompted me and just hit terminate the activity very impresive PE Guard has alot of potential and really blocks any rootkits behabiour in real time
MBAM and PE Guard 2 is a rock solid Combo
yes and they both run smooth
All of them works on XP
Any hint on what tomorrow's new setup will be?
My new setup is:
Prevx (paid real-time)
Hitman Pro (paid)
Microsoft Security Essentials (real-time)
Zemana (keyloggers, got no chance with me!)
Sandboxie (gotta be safe these days)
DefenseWall (everything set to untrusted)
Running smooth as a baby's behind. 10 minute bootup, few freezes every couple of minutes, lots of alerts to keep me distracted and occupied, get no work done, I mean can't open a document without everything going crazy, but man I feel safe.
Actually, just running Mamutu, MSE and Sandboxie.
all this stuff in just one machine? wow i wonder how can this be and not
Windows XP Pro sp3 32 bit.
DefenseWall 3.03 paid
PE Guard 2.1 paid.
Win Patrol Pro paid
Hit Man Pro ( scan on boot up)
MBAM (infrequent full scan)
Windows XP Pro sp3 32 bit.
Been running smooth but is there any overkill, particularly DefenseWall and PE Guard, the DefenseWall license expires in September.
