Just curious, what made you decide against Eset Smart Security?

Kees, just wondering if you have noticed any problems scanning with MBAM or HMP while SS is running.
Tried that combo and MBAM started to throw up errors and HMP would just crash.

Didn't really offer much protection when it came to test apps changing the registry or grabbing screen shots, etc. on my system. No HIPS at all so I had no idea when apps were trying to do things on my system.

No real need though for ESS when I'm running Outpost, so that's why I switched to just Nod32.

There's a reason I don't write here often - I change too often. :D When I test software, I quickly determine if I wanna keep the software, and I really mean quickly make a decision. So the current "test-subject", Real-Time Defender Professional, might, just like everything else, be on my PC between 5 min and a week after it's out of learning mode - alternatively I find it fantastic and it stays forever.

That's how my testing works and how my "relationship" to this topic is, enjoy. :D

    Great setup, I like it.

    Differences with mine:

    1. ditch MSE (and Windows Defender), and install ESET NOD32 Antivirus
    2. enable SEHOP
    3. install Hitman Pro

Sorry, no NOD32 for me. Ever. If I have to ever resort to purchasing something, it will be Avira Antivir Premium. Also, I added HitMan Pro as a backup scanner.

Why ditch MSE? MSE is a good av and there is nothing wrong with using it.

    In contrary, it is great.

I think or my word choice wasn't great, or you misinterpret my post; probably a combination of both. I just used that post to show my setup, that is why I said: Differences with mine. I didn't post to advise or criticise. I don't mean he should remove Microsoft Security Essentials, I have used that program and I like it for various reasons (light, great UI, great Windows 7 integration, good detection, good removal). I should of used a different word rather than "ditch" I think...

In general I should have stated:

I like your setup, my setup is really close to yours,
Instead of MSE I use ESET NOD32, and next to that I have SEHOP enabled and Hitman Pro installed.

If my ESET license expires I am not sure what I'll do. Dependant of the new features of ESET version 5. If nothing special is coming, I won't renew, although I am a big ESET fan. I will probably start using Microsoft Security Essentials (or AVG Free version 10) or less likely a different paid product (most likely Norton 2011 then).
