Your Common Sense version is really far more refined than me...:)

  2. You don't need it, because LUA + SRP will prevent anything from running that you don't install yourself. In practice IMO the only thing that would get past it would be a remote vulnerability or somesuch, which your router would guard against.

    Seriously... You're safe.

Do you have DWv3? If so you can drop Comodo and set Winpatrol only to look at activeX, BHO's and internet settings

    Online Armor Premium
    Avast 5 free

    Rock solid !

btw I'm suprised how Avast is doing great job, I mean, from entire HD it found only one threat.
In my case this is awesome because every other product finds at least 20, of course all FP's.
I was kinda looking before I installed it today for some AV with zero-like FP and very good detection at the same time.
When I saw Avast.. wow ! dream come true :)
For me that is real AV, 'cause I don't want from AV to tell me I have crack for something or some packed executable to be labeled as high risk worms or some BS like that. I need simple and rock solid : Listen buddy, this is really bad file you got there, we've tested it and it's really bad.
I mean jeez ..... before Avast I tried one product (four letters, first letter is P :p ) it found it's own files as hard-core malware :D
Never uninstalled anything faster in my life :)

No, It doesn't conflict just make sure that all the avast modules are trusted. I have used it with AIS and Avast Free with no problems at all:)

    I'm liking IE8 lol.

I followed your tutorial "Making IE8 the safest webbrowser"
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=262475

The only thing that worries me is I have to open a port when I use P2P.
How can I protect myself from possible attacks from that open port? :<

because of ACL... I can't download executables in IE8 which I seldom do anyway... but I can download .torrents :)

Im thinking of using Vipre Antivirus Premium, got it for free from twitter :p
The only thing i like about it is that it slows down my internet speed/connection.
Can you fix that or is it like that?
I like Vipre because it blocks like EVERYTHING.. Tested it on VM.

Quick question for everyone? Would be adding Defensewall 3 will I have to much over lap? I am needing a Sandbox/Hips so I can be safe while I research Malware and I figured Defensewall would be a good fit to keep me safe.

  25. If you are playing around with live malware, you really should be using an isolated machine dedicated to the task. I've heard tell of rootkits that can break out of Virtualbox, and breaking out of SBIE/Geswall/Defensewall would probably be a lot easier than that.

My humble opinion: pretty much the entirety of desktop security consists of a) preventing things from installing without the user's say, and b) making sure that the user knows whether stuff they might want to install is hostile or not, so that they can make useful decisions. Once you go ahead and deliberately execute something hostile on your main machine, you're relying on pure luck.
