    Not a bad thing :)
I'm fine with it, but as some people here i don't like to trust entirely on Signature Based protection.
I always have at least a BB. :D

because i can easily block all internet connections and allow only firefox, in the latest version it has those "security zones" where KIS automatically decides what gets access and what doesn't.

I have also disabled many services, no paging file, made backup of registry with erunt, made backup of services settings, backup of drivers with Driver Backup2.

omg! just now! you made me realize it again!
    what's with me? >__<

maybe, I'll try trimming it down again o_O

But... don't you think my current realtime apps consumes only a few resources and covers the part where LUA/SRP doesnt?

Avast Network and Webshield totals around 12,000k Mem Usage
    Peerblock 4,000k
    OA 30,000k
    Rapport 41,000k

I will replace Rapport with Prevx later and remove OA.

  14. My current minimal annoyance factor security setup...

(Again, hardened static XP SP3 base system.)

Passive defense: SRP as admin. All internet-facing apps and most viewers are forced to run limited by an SRP policy. Obviously this is silent and does not impede the functionality of these apps.

HIPS: PrivateFirewall. I selected this because of its lightness and lack of gratuitous popups, even with relatively tough settings. I figure that, in the very unlikely event that a driveby download succeeds and uses the TOCTOU trick, it still won't matter because SRP will force the payload to run limited.

(Probably there are ways to bypass that too, but I'm not going to be anal about it. As for badware that doesn't come from the internet, I've disabled autorun, and shall take the precaution of scanning it first with...)

On-demand: Hitman Pro. Why? Because it can scan my entire hard drive in a couple of minutes, while still using several different engines. Also because, while it integrates the PrevX engine, it doesn't seem to have the hysterical tone that the PrevX people seem to like. ("YOUR MACHINE IS INFECTED WITH THE EICAR TEST VIRUS! ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO PAY US TO REMOVE IT?) Or if it does, it hasn't shown it yet; if it does I'll probably dump it for A^2 or such.

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Limited User Account / Access Control List / Data Execution Prevention / Software Restriction Policy / NAT Router Firewall / Google Public DNS

    Realtime:
    • Prevx SafeOnline (R.C.) v.3.05.157
    • Peerblock

I'm looking for something that will provide either keystroke encryption or browser lockdown with the least possible overhead.
Prevx SafeOnline is bundled with realtime malware scanning which drags down my really old HDD.

Removed NOD32, just doesn't see any need for a real-time AV

You can just remove the real-time part by going to settings, heuristic settings and pulling all the sliders to your left. That way you'll only have safeonline running :).

nope. that will just disable the advanced heuristics.
prevx will still be monitoring everything and can still detect malware realtime.
