Get rid of AVG Free and use Antivir as a on demand scanner. Used correctly, you wont have any issues :thumb:

I don't even know what they all do. But I believe you should look for overlaps in your protection and eliminate those. I think of the programs I do know, I'd keep AVG and Sandboxie and add Online Armour. That would be my setup as I'm somewhat old school.

Shadow Defender is system virtualizer, ShadowProtect is imaging/backup software and PeerBlock is an IP blocker to keep anti-P2P organizations off.

I used to have Online Armor on my old system and I liked it a lot, but I felt it was heavy. I want to have an anti-keylogger, before I had Zemana and couldn't install SpyShelter, maybe this time it would work...

    Why
Because Keyscrambler encrypts all the time and Trusteer only on partner sites plus the sites you added yourself. To reduce incompatibility I de-selected Trusteer's key encryption.

There's no comparison between Immunet (Released common version) and Panda Cloud Beta or not. It consumes much of my RAM and it glues to my HD like a baby breastfeeding :D

Please don't get me wrong, i think it's a wonderful product but just not for my performance needs.

    @Kees

I see. I thought the forced download is some tweak that would override the 'right-click-save file as' in which a user could choose where to save the file.

I thought you didnt trust Trusteer... I'd love to use keyscrambler but the free version does not protect Chrome :<

Darn, I had just thought about using CTM. Anyone else know of an easy to use, free, once a day backup type thing? Not sure what I'm asking really.

    Cheers!

Do you allow your brother to run free as the wind in an Administrator account? Actually, you've got an awesome security function right under your nose, built-in to the O/S in Applocker. Why don't you use it?

Maybe no choice in the matter? Too bad you guys can't agree on a security setup that's left intact.

My dad might buy me either ESET Antivirus or ESET Smart Security. What would be best? (ESET Antivirus + XP Firewall Enabled) or (ESET Smart Security + XP Firewall Disabled) ? :argh:

I'd go for ESET Antivirus + XP-firewall since it's cheaper. As long as ESET does its job keeping malware out of your computer, you won't need to control outbound connections (which ESET Smart Security offers).

    Core Security: LUA/SRP/DEP/ACL (drive-by download protection) / Google Public DNS ( 8.8.4.4 / 8.8.8.8 )

How my setup works: I'm confident with LUA/SRP/DEP/ACL to prevent the execution of malwares, my realtime apps are layered approach towards incoming malware/attacks/exploits/drive-by downloads from the internet and with key encryption to render most if not all keyloggers useless even if they succeed to phone home.

    Realtime:
    • Trusteer Rapport (key encryption and browser protection)
    • Avast Network Shield (URL Blocker + Intrusion Prevention System)
    • Avast Web Shield (transparent proxy to filter/block malicious webpages on HTTP port. )
    • Peerblock (Filter/Blocking access of 2,842,461,857 IPs on all ports except on HTTP port)
    • Online-Armor Personal Firewall Free (for more filtering, keylogger detection, HOSTS Protection, HIPS DISABLED.)
    • MBRGuard (the name says it all)
    • Deepfreeze (System Virtualization, I want to remove this but I'm sharing my PC with my cousins and I don't want them messing anything)

    On-Demand:
    • Hitman Pro (scan on-startup.)
    • Hitman Pro: (I also created an administrator shortcut for Hitman Pro so it will scan every storage for targetted 1-click scanning)
      Code:
      "C:\Program Files\Hitman Pro 3.5\HitmanPro35.exe" "C:\" "D:\" "E:\" "F:\" "G:\" "H:\" "I:\"
    • Virustotal Uploader (for scanning unknown processes and files.)
    • Avast 5 (for right click scanning and malware removal)
    • Macrium Reflect Free (disk image backup)

    Browsers:
    • Google Chrome (--safe-plugins, always block 3rd-party cookies, block all cookies w/ exceptions, block all javascript w/ exceptions)
    • Internet Explorer 8 (set everything to high)

...still enjoying my PC without the drag of a realtime AV.
Now, I want to learn how to protect my PC from SYN attacks.
