What do you guys think now that both Nod32 and KAV 2006 have new final versions. Is the proactive defense of KAV 2006 better than before meaning less false positive pop ups? Do you guys even use the proactive options? Did they fix the slowdowns in the web shield for KAV 2006?

About Nod32, do you find it effective to use the new and renamed potential unwanted and unsafe applications?

Which one seems more stable ? Some people say Nod32 2.71.16 is buggy, but what about the latest KAV 2006?

    Hi dja2k,
I cannot speak about the new NOD 2.71.16 because I didn't use it yet... but I am using the latest KIS/ MP1 with the Proactive Defense fully activated and so far no false positive.

Also the slowdowns in the web shield has been fixed. It is very stable and very light, I'm impressed. Two processes using 10,800k only.:)

i have yet to try the final version but when using the betas i never installed the proactive defense of KAV and its web shield never slowed down my web surfing.

as for stability, neither program has given me problems.

Did Kaspersky fix the problems it had before when running along side other firewalls? Don't remember exactly but I think it had to do with somekind of leak.

So Many Apps, so little RAM.

Have a Westell 6100 hardware firewall, Ghost Firewall, AOL anti-virus(KAV) and Dynamic Security Agent. DSA rules. Noisy for a few days, but an air-tight registry and process guard. Oh, can't forget spywareblaster.

I almost forgot, backup programs to all of the above (yes, including the router). Will be performing security app rotation shortly. Hey, paranoia is valid!

Where's the fun in that? o_O I have a "thing" for security apps. That, and input devices. I have a mouse and trackball collection going back to 1991. If I don't let the fellas out for a run every now and then, they get upset. ;)

As per quicker, my machine is quite zippy. A 3.2 GHZ HTP4 w/ 4 GBS of fast RAM. The apps that I have installed barely make a dent in the day-to-day usage. That, and a 20 MBPS cable connection keep things steaming.

SpySweeper 5.2- I'd like to run this as resident protection, but too many problems. 5.0 memory usage was around 60,000. That's been reduced in 5.2. But now it jacks up every other processes memory usage. One example: the 4 svchosts.exe without Spysweeper = 30,000 (for all 4). With Spysweeper = 140,000. I've written Webroot twice. So far no reply.

How good is the Proactive Defense in KAV 2006? Any specific websites that have some test results on it?
