I'm always adding/removing things from my security setup. I'm either very paranoid or I think of computer security as a hobby :D

    RT:
    Avira 10
    COMODO 4.0 (with D+)
    Prevx (with free Safe-Online)
    WinPatrol
KeyScrambler (not sure if I'll be needing it now that I have S.O)

    OD:
    a-squared Free
    Hitman Pro 3.5
    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    Norton Security Scan
    ClamWin
    Spybot - Search & Destroy
    Blacklight Rootkit Scan
    Gmer
    HijackThis
    SysInspector

    Browsing:

Firefox 3.6 in Sandbox (via Sandboxie)
    AlertCheck (stops those yes/yes popups)
    Finjan
    Lastpass
    NoScript

Along with all of this I have various tweaks and things of the like for my Vista. Always up-to-date with Microsoft.

Kees, would you say a portable Chrome would be safer/lighter than the current Firefox setup I have? Also, any other recommendations from anyone and appreciated ;)

    pardon me for butting in...
Chrome alone is unquestionably lighter than Firefox...

Kees' Chrome configuration is also lighter than your firefox configuration.

    Alan,

On Vista (problably with UAC) you have plenty defense with Comodo Avira and PrevX with Safe Online.

When you run a browser application virtualised (SafeSpace, Sandboxie) or policy contained (GeSWall, DefenseWall) it really does not matter which taste you like. Truth is either of those virualisation/policy sandboxes are so strong you need not worry,

Theoretically Chrome has the following advantages over FF
    a) Sandbox with Chrome
    b) Tabs run with lowest rights (versus FF medium rights)
    c) Chrome's extention/plug-in containment (security) is as wel designed as Opera f.i.

Both have no-script (chrome build in, FF through extention), Chrome loads a lot faster than FF (6 seconds difference on my PC). The knowledge of GreenBorder (also an application virtualisation program like Sandboxie) is woven into Chrome. They only decided to use existing mechanismes, hence opt for policy sandboxing, so while they bought GreenBorder, they sort of made a GeSWall like browser: See http://www.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/sandbox/Sandbox-FAQ

    Regards Kees

The prob with selectively allowing cookies and other data is that facebook chat will not work, even if you put it in the exception. But when you take the option to: Ask when a site tries to set data, it doesnt ask you anything and facebook chat works again..weird eh? ;)

Fully Updated Windows XP Pro SP3 running under LUA + ACL
(NO SRP, yes... I need help setting this up)

untouched full installation of Google Chrome (I always use Incognito mode when browsing)
PrevX SafeOnline (set to maximum protection for all http/https)
    Avast Free (File/Behavioral/Network Shield)
Windows XP Firewall (looking for a free rule-based updated firewall)
Wondershare Time Freeze (For Virtualization of System Drive and Folder Protection)
    MBRGuard (MBR protection from rootkits.)

Kees, is HITMAN PRO free? I tried it last time and it did not detect everything Avira can detect and it removed 0/18 malware it found on my friend's pc.

It has free scanning, but you have to buy the program to enable malware removal.

We'll see. Are those 2 similar in function? So far as I know, SafeOnline is Browser centric.

    Im building a fortress.

So far as I know, SafeOnline is Browser-centric. Am I wrong? ThreatFire is concerned with complete system.

I need Behavior Blockers, because Im too stupid for Firewalls and Anti Executables, currently.

Im unclear. Mamutu asked about allowing or blocking based on a certain percentage of the community's answers.

ThreatFire doesnt poll the community, however it is an intelligent behavior blocker, someone has programmed the knowledge already into its engine. Right? Thus its not a dumb HIPS, but a smart HIPS.
