Trying out Rollback RX. Had to see if I was missing anything. All this talk about imaging and snapshot software. Kinda reminds me of system restore. Of course I'm aware that it is more complete than restore.

What? Where did I say I disabled anything? I think you are misrepresenting what I posted. Please post the line where I said I disabled anything. All of my tests (minus the test for Comodo - as I pointed out earlier) were with default settings. I see someone thanked me for re-testing ESET, but I never changed any settings or disabled anything. Again, please post where I said I changed any settings.

Edit: I believe you are alluding to the poster who said
That was simply them saying that, I never changed anything or any settings. You need to read more carefully.

    Avira Antivir Premium v10
    Comodo Internet Security v3 (Firewall + Defense+)
System Safety Monitor (merely because Comodo does not check if a program's CRC has changed, for example by an update, or worse, by an infection.)
    Hosts File (HostsMan)
Proxomitron (nicely configured is a great security app, blocks all iFrames by default for example)

    On Demand
    MBAM 1.45
SpywareBlaster (Mozilla Cookie Protection disabled, because it makes Firefox slow as a snail, actually I'm wondering what the benefit of SpywareBlaster is, its update method is only added stuff, about 70% of their protected sites are long gone.)

    Still only using A-Squared LOL

Looking for a good AV+Firewall suite or in separate software (1 for FW and AV)

I just downloaded and installed that Promimitron. It looks like something that might be beneficial to the type of user and level of expertise of the users. Working in the backround.

How about Online Armor AV++? They have a good deal going right now: http://www.online-armor.com/aprilmadness.php. All the benefits of an AV and HIPS without the system drag...:)

yeah tried rollback rx. It went the way of 3 arm jackets and submarines with screen doors. I didn't like it so much. I would rather virtualize things. Easier to deal with. I know that it has advantages, like keeping your system clean but I can clean it out myself.

You can't go wrong with either PCtools firewall, OA premium, Outpost free or even zonealarm. I can't wait till A-squared ver 5 is out of beta. I'll be switching back to OA premium and Emsisoft antimalware 5. :)

Downloading PC Tools Firewall Plus :D
Will try ZoneAlarm after this (Like in a few days or week depends) :D

  20. Currently...

    Base system:
    - Windows XP SP3 (static  )
    - EeePC drivers and Super Hybrid Engine
    - Macrium Reflect Free
    - xpy + my own tweaks for hardening
    - default owner reg tweak so that SRP works properly (in case I want to use SRP)
    - Autorun disabled via the @SYS:DoesNotExist tweak
    - All this is backed up as a Macrium image, so that I can reinstall in 5 minutes if necessary. :D

    Security apps:
    - Online Armor Free 4.0.0.35. I disabled executable control (increases the probability of user error with all those popups), enabled hidden process detection, and set it to run any internet-facing app and most of my viewers as limited.

Some stuff can probably get past this setup... But I'm betting it's not anything I'll encounter in day to day use.

Thanks. Having tried out a number of products listed in this thread, I have gravitated to your favorites for similar reasons. They are very effective and very light. You have chosen products written by good programmers who do smart work.
