What is your security setup these days?

To be honest I think ESET is perfect for you. It is light, has good detection rates (also shown in your tests). Gives you a lot of options you can configure. It never uses pop-ups: only on successfull updates (you can disable that option) and found threats. And those updates are extremely quickly and doesn't lag your pc at all. When I start up my laptop I already had an ESET message with Database updated before I actually did anything on my pc. And the 4.2 version doesn't slown down the web browsing anymore.

Trying out G-data IS 2010 and threatfire. Doesn't seem like G data has a behavior blocker/HIPS.

G-data has never had a HIPS in any of their products from what I know anyway.

But it seems they got some kind of BB in the 2010 version according to:

Yea but even the current 2010 has a BB of some sort (trjam) might explain if he still uses G-data :)

I also saw that Cloud-security feature, but I wonder how it works if it's like ESET's Threatsense.Net or how. Someone might know and can explain a bit further:doubt:

Yeah 2011 has a BB, cloud and heur. I don't know when its coming out though. Of course when I had G-data installed I tried installing threatfire and it asked me if I wanted to run a new process. Sooooo. Thats why i'm running threatfire with it. So far so good. Scans are fast.

Are you starting w/ a fresh image of your OS every time you change your security equipment? If not, I'm extremely surprised that your box is still booting. :D

Yeah sorry, no. I own 2 licenses for ESET and I will not install it again on my system. In my tests, Avast was much, much better each and every time.

Avast is running super smooth here with no issues.

No comparisons man, if Nod32 fails in one test it does fare good in others too:)

:O Then you didn't publish all your results here. You tested it twice, one time with web protection disabled, so it had a **** result and everybody requested a restest. At that retest it caught everything. Did I miss something?
