Take your pick. KIS, Bitdefender, Avast, Eset, G-data, Norton, Mcafee, Norman, Zonealarm, Comodo. There are some more but I can't remember.

KIS, norton, comodo and g-data are all very good. You can't really go wrong with anyone.

thanks for the info, but i checked virus comparatives latest reports and kaspersky is getting lower and lower in detection rates, im trying panda IS now because its the 3rd in the chart.

2nd is avira and first is Gdata

By all means use what you want, but Kaspersky placed second in the last real world Dynamic test (Dec 2009).
Those are the tests everyone should concern themselves with IMO.
Also took Silver for AV of the Year 2009 by that very same independent testing body.
Not to mention KIS has a solid Behavior Blocker and a HIPS component as well (that can easily be converted into an anti-executable).

Anyway, using KIS 2010 if you can't tell.
HMP and MBAM for On Demand.
    ShadowProtect for imaging/backup.

    Regards.

Thats because its horrible. No offense to anyone that uses it.
I was using no script. Yeah that didn't last long did it. I couldn't stand it. Now I was reminded why I didn't keep it. I'll run the risk of getting a script virus.

It looks like Kaspersky have been focusing more on other types of security and their Signature based one were affected, that's what i think :D

Like sandbox, lowering rights, HIPS etc.

Have swapped out avast! for a 90 day trial of Norton AntiVirus 2010. Very, very impressed. Runs light as a feather and has an attractive, simple interface. A far cry from the Norton of old (I last used NAV in 2003).

So let me ask you, if you have SD running all the time, do you have certain folders for Opera excluded so for example, when you restart your system, Opera remembers where it has been and remembers what you've read on the forum here?

That is my biggest complaint about SD. It's tough to know what to exclude folder wise so you can run safely without anything getting in, while having your browser remember where you've been. Or your email program remember what you've downloaded and read, etc.

No "exclusions", only "commit now" when I'm sure something is safe and I want it permanently on my system.
I had to train Malware Defender before starting to use Shadow Defender, that was done very carefully with the help of Sandboxie.
Wilders forum remembers what i've read.
As far as where I've been on the net after a reboot, it's gone, where it should be, as well as any programs being tested or anything else I decide not to keep.

I don't use an e-mail program per say, All are web based. (my ISP, Yahoo, and netzero from an old account) never any problems with any of them.

You probably lasted longer than I did.

I just keep Java script toggled off with a button from
    the Toolbar Buttons 0.6.0.8 add-on.
If i need it for a certain page I "trust",just hit the button,
    reload page and its good.

Not as effective, but a lot less invasive.

OK, but what do you commit for example after you have visited the forum here so it remembers what you've read, etc? Don't you have to commit your browser cache or something along those lines?
