Are you using the latest beta or using the last final built?

Well, of all the AV's I tested, Nod32 was the most compatible with my security setup and didn't slow my internet down or stop it completely, bsod my system, etc.

    So I'm always sticking with Nod32. :)

    As for my security setup.

    Real Time:

    Spy Sweeper 5
    Nod32
    Outpost Firewall 4
    Tauscan 1.7
    Spyware Blaster

    All I need really.

I will occassionally scan with Nod32, SpySweeper and Tauscan.

    I think I'm pretty safe :)

Hey Tobe404, for Trojans, you should consider a better choice than Tauscan, like boclean or ewido.

Betraying my signature to a large degree  ...

A high quality router (not gonna tell which one)

MVP HOSTS - Excellent stuff, everyone should use this

Comodo Personal Firewall - These people have the attitude that it takes to be a winner, am very impressed with the speed that this software became a quality product

NOD32 - An old favorite, just works well always for me with zero compatibility issues

BOClean - Another old favorite, again, zero compatibility issues, works like a champ with super responsive support

Spyware Terminator w/ HIPS enabled - Newly added, another impressive and quality freeware

I'll gladly allow anyone to use my Tonka Truck or play war with my GI Joe and pals. But no one gets to use the Whammo Air Blaster!

But seriously folks, I tend to rotate (with an exception or two) my security apps frequently, even if I have a setup that I'm happy with. This compulsion seems to be common among the good posters here at Wilders. I also tend to be tight lipped about them just in case.

Hey bigc73542, are you running GSS's Appdefend at the same time as the HIPS in Spyware Terminator?

Brian-joe...I think you have way too many anti-spyware programs on your computer and not enough virus protection. You also have 4 applications that use HIPS,these will probably eventually conflict with each other and cause problems. More is not necessarily better.

1st and foremost, invest in a really good anti-virus progran like NOD32, Bit Defender, or Kaspersky.

You've got a top notch Firewall in Comodo, so keep that.

Then pick just 1 HIPS application (like SSM) and you will be fine. This combination should create a nice layered security system for you without the applications conflicting with each other.

Of course, that is just my opinion. I am no expert. There are guys in this forum a lot more knowledgeable than myself. But I feel that keeping it simple is better, so long as you choose your applications wisely.

    I've been tinkering again...

    Stayed the same:
    Added:
    Removed:

    Firewall/AV: KIS6
    Anti-Exploit: Socketshield

    AntiTrojan - Boclean
Utility Suite - Regrun Platinum(includes UnHackme rootkit detection)
    HIPS - Prevx1
    Ad blocking - Ad Muncher
    Cookie monitoring - CookiePal

    KAV6
    Zonealarm Free

The November edition of PCPro magazine has KIS6 with a 6 month licence. It also provides a discount code for 20% off when you need to renew to a 1 year licence(if you so wish to renew). The magazine was only £4.99 so to get KIS6 for less than £5 for 6 months was too good to overlook. So i decided to go for it and use it in place of ZA Free and KAV6.

Yes, I am using a security suite but i still have plenty of other layers. And everything is running nice and smooth. At least for now. ;) Just got to get into the swing of things with a rules based firewall. I'm a bit rusty.

Right, what else can I change...

This is my setup. I run Nod32,Look n Stop, SSM, Prevx1, AVG 7.5 [Spy cookie remover shield only]. I also have SpySweeper for scans only. DefenceWall I turn on when I am going to connect to a site I'm not sure of. I have 2 external enclosures . Once a month I Ghost an image of my sysrem to one of them. The other enclosure gets an Archive copy of my system thanks to FDISR. I update the Archive copy at least once a week and a new Archive copy once a month. I also use First Defence to make a snapshot on my C drive. It works for me.
