Yeah, it is pretty light. The only issue I have seen is it tends to hang the system a bit during a check for updates or during a scan. If you schedule scans during late hours, then I guess that wouldn't be much of an issue. I am going to monitor the update hangs though and see.

Added Malwarebytes Pro back into the mix.

It's just that extra layer of protection I think should be there.

I'm not sure what to do with MSE.
Can anyone recommend me a better option?

    Thanks for your reply.
I was thinking of using Avast 5!
    Is it stable now?

through personal experience i have found avast to be better at detecting viruses than mse. i would recommend switching over because avast is extremely light and stable.

No I have not, although I'm not sure what help anyone could be. It just seems to slow the system down when it is doing something. I've noticed this all along with the several times I have tried Kaspersky. I think it is what it is on my system.

Now that it's been installed for more than a day, it seems to be running better. It must scan all files in the background until it is done scanning them and keep some sort of cache or something because it seems to be running lighter now.

Thats all I run on my 2 VM's. One is XPSP3 and the other one is Win2000. Both set to discard changes on shut down and only protected with Defensewall. Dwall 3.0 for the XP one and Gizmo 2.56 for the Win 2000 one.

Yeah once it scans the file and when it is rescanned again unless it is modified the scan time is reduced to a great extent.

I find a few different security apps this way. The first day or two and first scan or two are a little choppy but after that things improve.

Yeah many security apps implement this to get better performance by minimizing usage of resources:)
