    you should leave him alone...sigh
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=265888

anyway - i feel like an idiot - only 2 permanent programs

    EAV 4.2
Malware Defender (Torchsoft - NOT the malware! - before some1 ask again  )

i clean the rest regularly with my own reg-file and batch.
ccleaner is a nice gift, but its settings depends on both above.
    this is on win7

    xp(1) like this
    EAV 4.0
    Outpost 3.51
    TuneUp RegCleaner 2004 (see below)

    xp(2) like this
    EAV 4.0
    LnS 2.6
TuneUp RegCleaner 2004 (!) instead CCleaner - old but enough,
any newer would kill my system

    for all:
    (Sandboxie for unknown and new)
Firefox as browser connects through a filtering proxy and is always up2date.
Acronis TrueImage 7 (xp) and latest (win7)
    brain 2.x improved version

and i click a lot of **** since years - but nothing happend since nearly 14 years
    when i had a win98 bootsector virus - boo - format.

in general i dont put the blame on those who use more than me - the
advertising for those tools just worked.
for me there are only 5 elemental points to mention
    - being up2date with my system (OS, Browser, other regularly used)
    - dont click what you dont know or cant imagine
    - backup
    - backup
    - backup

    simple - aint it? :D

PS if you share a computer - DONT give away any control to less experienced users
limit them instead installing additional software thy cant control.
my computer - my rights - me admin

in my opinion why limit their use of the computer why not just use deep freeze, shadow defender, returnil so they can still enjoy using the computer without user restricted things and just after restart all is the way that you set it up as it should be?

    I agree!

I just dont understand why so many users here make such complicated setups, when your just as good by using such a simple method.

Keep it simple people, wow, just mind boggling :isay:

Removed GeSWall and using MBAM only for its excellent IP blocking functionalities = only slowdown that's possible would be browsing speeds because of filtering, but I don't notice that anyway. ;)

disagree - why giving hope to deal with stolen passwords and other data,
and after reboot all evidence is gone - included the stolen data!?
it makes absolut no sense to handle security afterwards.

With all the methods of attack these days. You can't keep it totally simple and be totally protected.

Dropped Avast 5 and Malwarebytes Pro to try and just run Kaspersky AntiVirus 2010 after my tests, as it performed very well. Seems to be running pretty smooth right now...:D

    Thanks for the reply. ;)

I may play with it at a later date, after looking at some of the stuff on the web and youtube I decided to mess around with Sandboxie for the time being, seemed like an easier config.
