    Hi All,

Currently i am using the following security setup for my real as well as for my virtual machine....

    1. Limited User Account
    2. AppLocker Policy
    3. Panda Cloud AV
    4. MBAM 1.4
    5. AppGurad 1.3
    6. Sandboxie 1.44

Heavily relying on AppLocker and AppGuard.

Remember:- If it can't execute, it can't infect.

I sold my XPS laptop and using my old desktop to save money, built in 2004 it has a P4 and 1gig ram :'( . I game occasionally but mainly office work. At times I have 30+ tabs open, 2-3 word files, 2-3 excel files, 3-4 PDF's, and an mp3 playing. Since the machine is ancient I try to get the best performance while keeping it secure.

    XP Pro SP3
    windows firewall no exceptions
    behind a netgear router
    LUA with SRP
Kee's anti dl tweak in the browswer
    DEP for all programs
    Firefox with WOT & Adblock
    Chrome with WOT and adsweep
IE8 also installed and everything fully updated
Foxit for PDF's (scared of all the adobe exploits)
Browsers set to block 3rd party cookies
    Ccleaner

On demand scans with A-Squared Free, Hitman Pro, and MBAM.

Considering adding Avast 5 with just behavior & file scanner shields, MSE, or Geswall. Do you think I should add something even though I really only use the LUA with SRP? If I should add something is there something I can add and still do lots of multi-tasking on this ancient machine?

actually what i didnt like about it was the False positive and much popups. cause im finding a combination with less pops but user friendly cause im doing these test so i can put it on my families computer which is all computer newbies and its really hard to put a security which bombs them with questions, im on norton 360v4 now and as usual it is install and forget thing but i feel like my computer is kinda slow after using it so im finding alternatives again

Fair enough, if its too noisy for you move on. Not my experience though. I use OA++ on my main family machine used by total newbies with no problems. I ran through the Safety Check Wizard, use the white-list and OASIS check and we never see a pop-up. If your looking for alternatives and want HIPS functionality KIS2010 might do. It has decent HIPS, detection and sandbox. If you auto trust digitally signed & Kaspersky whitelist its very quiet and light on another machine for me, I only scan new/changed files and only on execution so that maybe helps.

    Cheers

I am curious, do you have Shadow Defender permanently enabled or only when you need it?

I am thinking of turning on SD permanently, which I did before for a while, but it does need some setting up for the exclusions.

I used to shadow the system drive all the time with SD while using OA++. Never had a problem and only noticed a slight slowdown. Lately, I typically only run SD when I need it. I feel OA++ is very strong by itself so I only use SD when I feel like I need an extra layer of protection.

I use SD all the time, literally. I reboot sometimes once a week. I to am waiting on OA++ 64 bit for what I really think it will bring to the table.

Comcast just went to Norton 360, so I'm using that. Hard to pass up all of those features for free. Using it along with Prevx and WinPatrol.
