    My set-up is fairly basic ~

    Router (Hub) Firewall.
    McAfee NetProtect Plus (free with my ISP).
    McAfee Site Advisor (plug-in works in *Firefox)
    Windows Defender.
    SpywareBlaster.
    SUPERAntiSpyware.

    Oh, & Brain.exe :thumb:

    (Opera 10.10, K-Meleon 1.5.3, SRWare Iron)

    *I tend to download everything in Firefox as it virus scans as it downloads.

    Novice setup (with brainpicked knowledge, thanks to Sullly and Kees195:cool:

    * Vista x64

    * Admin with full UAC

    * Norton UAC tool

    * PGS setup
    a) deny execute on Guest and Host folders
    b) allow on folders of Avast, Keyscrambler, PGS, Windows Defender and Hitman Pro (all running as admin)
    c) restricting programs as basic user (all internet facing programs on my PC, see https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1601891&postcount=27)

    * Avast5 beta file shield only on execute and write

    * Windows Defender: no scan, no warn, heuristics, create restore, no spy-net, deselected on execution scan and scan downloaded files (other agents active)

    * Keyscrambler free

    * IE8 tweaks (download/drive bt infection protection), see https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=262475

    * Windows Vista FireWall

    On demand Hitman Pro (also used selected right click context menu scan)

    Running very light. I have added the two reg files as short cuts/quick links to program menu start for easy switching when needing to download an executable. This gives no pop ups and is understoodby every family member using this PC.

    Not according to the Norton spokesperson I had on the phone the other day :D .

    Thanks for your reply ;).
    I wasn't sure if I would install it at my laptop, because of it's limited power compared to my desktop.

    Removed Avira premium. Seemed liked the file guard was slowing down opening files. I'll just patiently wait for either avast 5 or A-sqaured 5. *sigh*

    Trying out new setup. Comodo internet security and Avira premium. So far so good. I love all of comodo's advanced options and config. Avira seems to be quick and my internet is running smoothly.

    Added Comodo Time Machine. Works perfect so far. Only "downside" is I had to double the C-partition to get enough free space.

    Well it's inherent to the software I guess :) and not a problem of course except for some extra "work". Very content/happy with the software btw!:thumb:
