Hmmm WSFuser, I guess you were out of luck that Look'n'Stop doesn't have a 64 bit version. How is Ghostwall working for you?

    Hi all,

    I guess I'm a minimalist:

    SpywareBlaster
    Ad-Aware SE Personal
    McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i
    Windows Firewall
    Windows Updates (auto)

    And just for fun:

    Windows Defender (Beta 2)

Great forum here! I'm learning quite a bit from you all.

I opened this thread a while back so we can learn from each other in reguards to your security setup. Hope you keep posting if you change anything.

By the way, lets continue posting any new lineups to your security setup. I am in the process of cleaning out my system, doing a reformat, and getting squared away. My current main setup is the one in my signiture. Will post a full list of any changes later.

Guess I will post what I am using.

    Anti-Virus: Nod32 - No plan's to change
    Anti-Trojan: BOClean - No plan's to change
HIPS: Process Guard - Maybe to Ghost
Net Monitor: Port Explorer - No plan's to change
Ad Blocker: Ad Muncher - No plan's to change
Download: Getright - No plan's to change
Browser: Opera, second Firefox - No plan to change

Don't use a Firewall as don't like them, which is why I use Port Explorer for easy monitoring of network. As for spyware never had a problem with them, I have spybot installed currently. Had adware and superantispyware but they never find anything, so i removed them.

Is that really Raxco's version as a few of us are still awaiting for them to release the latest product? Raxco still show build .166 on their site. Leapfrog had build .169 on their site in June, but this has since been updated to build .172 to fix a couple of bugs.

Sorry, I was wrong, it is Leapfrong First Defense and I didn't even know there was an update to .172. I am sure I downloaded it from a raxco website, but don't remember the webpage address. Anyways, I don't find any difference from Raxco to Leapfrog. I still get the same occasional errors and same completed snapshots as the rest.

Well I was trying to cut down on resources. I don't want to run a lot of programs now. So RegRun has most of the stuff I need, like the registry stuff, the script stuff, and the anti-replacement. The reg guard will benefit me cause I don't usually like things to add to startup by themselves.

so what happened to your doubts of regrun?
although they dont use resources (except hard drive space), id trim ur on-demand stuff a bit.

My doubts are still there to a certain extent, but it is using a very small footprint for the registry stuff itself. Software like regdefend and others use more than 15 MB +, regrun is using only 5 MB. I don't like things slowing my computer down, it was too much stuff I was running and for what, never caught a thing. In terms of hard drive, I have two raids with each consisting of two 120 GB drives. I have space to throw around. The thing is that I can't upgrade my ram to 2 GB because I will not be able to sustain my 4.0 GHZ overclock using all 4 banks of memory. I need more ram available for the other stuff I do instead of it being used by security stuff and yes I know, you might say, well why not turn them off manually, but it gets to be annoying having to turn them off all the time. Later, when the OA Firewall comes out, it will eventually replace Looknstop. Even if the firewall isn't as strong, which I doubt, my router firewall and harden-it should be an extra messure.

Maybe CogitoErgoSum did the same thing as me; as soon as the trial or free key expired, socketshield is gone.

    Hello gerardwil and dja2k,

FYI, I have a paid license to SocketShield. I uninstalled SS for the following three reasons. First of all, with my setup it didn't intercept anything for the two months that I used it. Secondly, when installing it on my system it would corrupt or unload winsock if I did not completely disable RegRun Platinum 4.6. Lastly, I am considering the use of Prevx1. On the other hand, despite what I said above, I would not be opposed to use SS again as part of a layered defense as it uses little resources.

    Peace & Love,

Its actually a good thing that Socketshield never found anything, but you never know when it will and be useful. It applies to all, like an antivirus, just because it doesn't find anything, doesn't mean it is useless. But I understand, I have removed it to, have re-installed it, and vise versa many times. If it was causing problems in your setup and regrun is a better choice to keep, then go for it. About prevx1, check that it doesn't conflict with the others first, like the defense wall and defense plus. Prevx1 is a good program that accomidates the antivirus and firewall nicely.
