Currently running the following on a Windows XP laptop used for travel (lots of hotel/airport wifi's)...

    OA Premium 3.0.0.190
    A-Squared AM 4.0
    Prevx Edge 3.0.1.17

Any suggestions/comments? :thumb: :thumbd: What about MalwareBytes, Malware Defender and/or Defensewall? :doubt:

    Thanks for your help. :)

This is something I may have to look in to.
Later on this year I will be using a laptop at different hotels and was wondering what security programs to use.
I guess using a router is out of the question or is there a way to connect a wireless router to a laptop with an aircard?
    Anyone know?

    Maybe CIS Pro?

    TrustConnectTM
Wherever, whenever and however you use the Internet! TrustConnect can be used at coffee shops, hotels, airports, City/Town Public Wi-Fi hubs, or anywhere! A $49.00 value on its own. Wi-Fi is MOST dangerous. Now you don't have to worry.

Yes, it is compatible with SP3 :D

I don't recommend using it with Vista, since the program is optimized for use only on Windows 2000/XP.

It is. But I don't recommend it. The program is optimized for Windows 2000/XP.

But it's your call. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I suggest to implement to a firewall-hips point of view, instead of ThreatFire...So I suggest Comodo (better) or Online Armor...

But considering that you're with LUA, Avast and Threatfire are pretty good:D

    Regards

I don't have a security setup at the moment. Its been little over a year since I've had my PC on the internet. From what I remember on my last setup I had SpyBot S&D and AVG (Free). But I always seemed to get raped by malware anyway. And when SpyBot did find something I attempted to "fix" the problem only to have an important registry file be deleted causing me to do a full restore of my system.

What is good now? I have Trojans on my PC now. I know b/c well... I used SpyBot S&D to scan my computer b/c thats what was left on there. But I dare not try "Fix Selected Problems" in fear that it will delete an important registry file.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there a consensus then that this set-up is fine? Any thoughts on adding Malwarebytes or Malware Defender, and/or Defensewall?

BTW, which is a better program (Malwarebytes or Malware Defender)?

    Many thanks!

I've cleaned up many a laptop after Hotel/Airport WiFi usage. Change security methods.

LUA + SRP + AC (Do a search on this forum for configuration)

You'll thank me after you get back from your next trip. :)

    Malwarebytes = AntiMalware
    Malware Defender = HIPS
    No comparison.
