Good Evening! Didn't appreciate the way Norton presents the Extensions...kept getting pop-ups asking do this do that! So I uninstalled Norton...and went to Vipre Advanced Security. I like you Trooper can't stand them! Sincerely...Securon

Those popups do disappear after awhile but yes, they are VERY annoying.

Let us know how Vipre is treating you. Cheers!

Admin account with UAC on max.
Windows Defender with cloud lookup & smartscreen scanning for downloads.
Windows Defender exploit protection on full, and testing controlled folder protection.
IWR Consultancy simple software restriction policy.
Everything works great at the moment, although controlled folder protection is a work in progress.

    Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit.
    Standard User Account
User Account Control at max, with password
Eaz-Fix time machine (pretty close to Rollback Rx)
ZoneAlarm FW free - it can be used as antiexec, when DefenseNet set to Manual, though rather inconvenient with frequent popups and no learning mode
Malwarebytes Antiexploit with additional shields for routine apps.
Zemana AntiLogger resident with Identity protection and Pandora on
    Avast Free

Windows 10 FW Control Plus from Sphinx-Soft, default zone for initially detected apps - DisableAll
Malwarebytes Antiexploit with additional shields for routine apps
Zemana AntiLogger resident with Identity protection and Pandora on

    The setup feels lite.

Now playing with Comodo. I've finally managed to install this stubborn app.

Default Win.10 protection with VoodooShield lifetime license and Adguard added on two computers and my wife and kids won't let me change anything. I'm going to have to buy another computer just to play with security software.

Dan is always a fair and respectable guy. If I recall, it was something like if you purchased 3-year worth of licence, he would upgrade it to "lifetime". Whatever it was, I'm certain that he would always stay true to that and particularly for Wilder's members. Someone will have to clarify whether it was 3-years that had to be purchased or something similar. But it was a great deal for sure.

    Hi Securon,

That is good to know. How is the detection rates with Vipre these days? Sorry I did not see your post sooner, or else I would have replied to you in a more timely manner.

I switched to EIS. So far so good.

How is Eaz-Fix time machine by chance? I have been thinking of adding something like that to my arsenal. Instead of just Macrium Reflect free.

Basically the same product. What one you use to restore your computer is a personal choice.

Eaz-Fix is a good clone of Rollback Rx. This company seems not to exist for several years. Time machines like Rx is quicker in restoration from snapshots (just a reboot) then image apps like Macrium. On the other hand image apps are more stable and secure.

I'm still using XP Pro SP3 with the POSready tweak, and the legacy apps in my sig. iVPN. Firefox 27.0.1 with an old version of NoScript & HTTPS-Everywhere. PrivateTab, CS Lite Mod, Request Policy, Calomel. I've substituted UBlock for ABP, but still have ABP + the EHH disabled. When I find new elements to block I enable them temporarily then add the rules to UBlock then disable the former(s) again. Scan new files introduced to my PC (which are sandboxed initially) with VT Hash Check, and have MBAM, Hitman Pro & TDSS to do on demand scans with (though I never really do them).

I've still never had a problem ever since XP's EOL, nor had one for years before it. It's still my favorite OS ever and I don't trust any Windows OS since in terms of privacy. When tweaked you can make the attack surface basically non-existant while not having to rely on security by obscurity, the best of both worlds. When POSready's EOL comes (2021, though it'll probably be pushed back a year) I don't know what I'll do. Probably just keep it anyhow.
