    How good is the rising antivirus? I installed the Rising antivirus couple of days ago and it was doing a good job on getting automatic updates and scheduled scan. However, when I tried to watch some live DVD movies from the site www.techsatish.net, I got a rogueware called virusremover 2009. My superantispyware pro edition caught it, but this rogueware installed some other components into my system. I had to do a complete scan using superantispyware pro to get rid of all traces of it. I assume the rising antivirus also should have caught it, but it did not. So, I removed it, and went back to Avast again.

    Even now, I am downloading movies from the same site, but dealing with the roguewares as and when they try to get into my system. Avast and superantispyware blocks most of them, but I always do a complete scan using superantispyware pro to make sure that nothing gets into my system.

    Thanks,
    Balaji.

    Rising AV gave one of my systems a ton of issues, but, I believe that was due to it not playing nicely with others. Uninstalling it was quite a challenge IIRC.

    Tried SuRun + Kafu w/ Mrk's fantastic tutorial but this is a Mountain of security. :eek: I'll save it for visitor user's because it LOCKS down XP so tight that it's amazing! Not to mention adding some SRP in this mix. Very Secure Indeed!

    Highly recommended for dangerous surfers or malware testers. It's 'Da Bomb! Not at all for routine surfers who have some knowledge of security.

    well ive re-added PC Tools Firewall again, no matter what, this seems like the firewall that i stick to.

    Real-Time:

    Avira Antivir Premium
    PC Tools Firewall ----> NEW
    DriveSentry
    Rollback RX

    and if anybody knows what the difference between FD-ISR and Rollback RX is, id really appreciate to here whats different between the 2.

    Trying Threatfire again too.

    I'm bound and determined to wait this development out to the end but right now it's working pretty darn good when you add Kee's rules to it.

    This Behavioral Blocker has all the elements to rival Mamutu when or if they get it to full completion IMHO.

    I know you have XP Pro, for other's Fajo's addition will give them XP Pro's securiy tab see http://www.fajo.de/portal/index.php?lang=en&option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

    I also have XP Pro now, always add no execute for temp and internet directories as SRP

    Mrk and Tlu really add a punch to everyone's security setup (on XP) with their Surun tip's :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
