Dumped WSA. Oddly enough all the issues I was having with firefox and some of the mail programs was in fact WSA. The explorer issue still isn't fixed. Last checked it was running around 309K. I thought that sandboxie was causing my yahoo and gmail to seize up. Also Firefox started to take about 30 seconds to start. Craziness indeed. So I dropped WSA for the moment and am trying out CFW with 360 TS and sandboxie. TS is running 110K with 2 procs at idle. Not too bad I guess. I also added HMP alert for the browser since I don't have WSA anymore.

I had the same issues with WSA, and everyone said I was 'making things up'.. Opera takes roughly 60 seconds+ to start with WSA, like your Firefox issue. I had the massive explorer spikes, as well as random 'odd' activities with other programs when WSA was running. I found it entirely troublesome, regardless of which PC I ran it on. I tend to be 'annoyed' my most AV products, in one way or another. When we are dealing with very fast PC's, even slight pauses become annoying, and even a .5 second delay loading a web page becomes intolerable. Folks on slow/slower machines may not understand this, but the faster you get, the more nuances become noticeable/troublesome. It's like a guy in a Indy Car, tweaking the air pressure in the tires by a mere 2PSI, and racing 3 seconds faster.

I'm close to running no AV at all to be honest, and just running locked up with Appguard. Currently testing Eset.. In the words of Princess Leia "Eset your my only hope".

same here , Webroot said "it is due to the pagefile use of memory, it will not impact your system responsiveness" so this issue is not our priority" but on my 2gb RAM mini-laptop, explorer.exe and other softs abnormally using each 200+mb ram is not nothing.

when you claim to be the lightest AV, you have to fix that asap.

When I mentioned the problem with Webroot it was explained away like it was no big deal. I uninstalled it almost 5 months ago and haven't looked back. Money well spent.

    Bitdefender Antivirus Plus
    Windows Firewall Control 4
    NVT Exe Radar Pro
    EMET 4.1

    I've just re-install windows 7 32bit for my non-geek friend
everything is meant to be "automatic" and as easy as possible to use.

EMET 4.1 - recommended setting, with all internet facing software included.
    PCAV - with auto quarantine
    HMP Alert - no popup
    Windows Firewall - On
    Autorun - disabled

Moved to Eset Multi-Device, so I can cover a full 10 devices in the home for a mere $149 over 2 years. Factoring per device, over 2 years - it's a good deal. Also Eset 7 is fast, light, and doesn't impact the system while still offering pretty awesome PUA/PUP detection.

    ESET
    Appguard
    Adguard

    Adblock w/Malware Database ONLY.
    Malware DNS
    Malware Security Appliance

Had to remove MalwareBytes, 2x is becoming very bloated/heavy, and causes a noticeable slowdown, especially in the current beta. Not happy with the impact it is bringing, and in my view they've lost direction on the product. So I will fully replace it with Eset until MBAM gets back to it's roots.

Thanks dja2k, and G1111 and jmonge. Then I'll load Emsisoft Internet Security 9.0, I think it has their new firewall. By the way, the last few weeks I've been running EAM 8 and have been very impressed.

I don't have enough faith in Invincea to put their betas on my computers, Bo.
As far as I am concerned, Sandboxie lives because of Sandboxie, not because of anything that Invincea has done.
