AppGuard // Shadow Defender // Malwarebytes Pro On Demand // HerdProtect On Demand // OpenDNS // Chrome w/ABP

I'm trying WSA again. Seems very light so far - which is to be expected I guess.

WSA is certainly the lightest of any AV I have tried.

Since there is no option to prompt for action when a threat is found, I've ditched WSA.

Back to no antivirus for me, for a least a few months, maybe even longer.

from a common user point of view, i think when a threat is found, you don't have much to do than quarantine or delete it; btw you can let allow the threat later.

Good one Securon, made me laugh. I can relate to that 'sliver of truth'.

After another go at setting up Firefox, especially working on FF and LastPass, things are now running smoothly enough that I can use it as my main browser. Also loaded a couple of search engines that don't track.

Actually you can choose to clean it up later. Restore it and then add it to the exclusion list.

    Here is my current setup:

I have Windows 8.1 x64 with all updates installed. I've set User Account Control to "Always notify". SRP are also configured and enabled. ESET Nod32 AV is monitoring my system. I use Macrium Reflect Free to backup my system and OpenDNS for DNS server. For a while I'll be also testing Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.

EDIT: I also use HitmanPro, Malwarebytes AM and Emsisoft Emergency Kit as on demand scanners only.

I don't want to have to restore files from quarantine. I want to be prompted every singe time the on access protection finds a potential threat. If an antivirus can't do that, I will not use it.

Anybody know what happened to the Norton DNS test page?
Downforeveryone.com says it isn't just me.
It's been unreachable for at least a couple of days.
Is there a new test page?

Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1.0.40, HitmanPro.Alert 2.6.2.72 and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit 0.10.0.0300 protecting my system without any issues.

  23. @Page42, Found Fool DNS in TOMxEU signature. :thumb:

Reasonable ping times and download MB's from Netherlands. Free version filters advertisements and phising sites. First connections seem to take a little longer (no cache), cache is kept one hour or 90 minutes or 1 MB. HTTP requests are stored 45 days. Seems a nice alternative to Norton DNS with ad-filtering.

    Thank you, Kees!
I shall look into it, and give it a whirl. ;)
I am using Comodo Secure DNS right now.
I'd like to know a bit more about what is going on (if anything) with Norton DNS, if anyone has some insights.
