    Uninstalling BD Total Security.
Hogs my computer down during a system scan and when i left it scanning overnight, it took 4 hours and a couple mins to finish the scan. INSANE
Now my other problem is that it takes decisions WITHOUT ASKING ME FIRST even though i have it set to ask before taking any action. It deleted some Android tools i use for my Android phones . . .
I was just doing a full system scan a few minutes ago, decided to stop it and start a new one before going to sleep and even though i clicked STOP, CANCEL, and CLOSED the window it was still running the scan in the background. Yes, i made sure to stop the scan properly but it didnt work and once i closed the window there was no way i could stop it.

Now i know the true meaning of "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

In the meantime . . . downloading EAM again.
I might install BD again later on but for now im going back to my old setup.

Good Morning! The Right Move made Noob...I had the same experiences with B.D.I.S.2014...I found Emsisoft to be much more user friendly. And it's Customer Support with Fabian and Associates...is Hands Above...in providing Industry Leading Customer Focus. Sincerely...Securon

Sigh... I gave up. I can't fix the problems I had with OA. I had a theory that probably can fix it but oasrv.exe never ask for internet permission. Also, some DLLs and perhaps EXEs too were still allowed without a warning at all. I wanted to report this to the devs but I wonder if this is my fault. Don't feel it's appropriate to bug them (no pun intended) with such a trivial user error. :doubt:

    Back to SRP.

Oh yeah, I found it to be too bothersome to whitelist websites per requests basis in HTTPSB. So I followed Bo's advice, I don't whitelist any websites. What I only put in my whitelist are global "CSS", "IMG", and "Other" requests. The rest are blacklisted by default. Hey, if I just want to lurk this forum I don't need to allow javascript anyway. :D

Trying out the good 'ole Sandboxie again. Can't decide if I want to add it to my setup, replace Software Policy with it, or get rid of both. Oh yea, and I added Norton DNS.

    @ams963,

    Hi!

I did not mention that I have the free version of HitmanPro installed and scheduled to run a quick scan once a day. I've heard HMP has good detection, but not so good at removal?

SpywareBlaster uses no system resources and does not interfere with the "good side" of the web so I cannot see a reason to remove it.

SAS! I will agree with you here. About all SAS has ever detected on my systems was itself!

    http://community.norton.com/t5/Tech-Outpost/SAS-found/m-p/964193#M7443 :thumbd:

My backup strategy is fairly simple - I try once a week to copy my C drive using Symantec System Recovery 2013, which replaces Norton Ghost. That way I always have a copy of my machine a week old to load should the need arise.

Now I returned to CIS though I'm quite satisfied with OA+Avast+EMET combo. After some tweaks could make CIS+EMET get along.

    Windows-7 Ultimate 64-bit
    SUA
    UAC - max

I keep a couple of OS images made with Paragon and Macrium and Eaz-Fix.

    Eaz-Fix 9.1 snapshot time machine

    EMET 4.1:
    - DEP Opt Out
    - SEHOP Opt Out
    - ASLR Opt In
    - COMODO Dragon excluded from EMET (it's strange but on my main PC when Dragon is covered by EMET then it works unstable and OS sporadically freezes). Anyway I somewhere read that Chrome (and therefore Dragon) don't need coverage by EMET.
    - All internet facing and routine apps and some Windows apps like explorer are covered by EMET

CIS 6.3.2976 (I cannot make CIS 7.4080 beta get along with EMET):
    - FW Custom
    - AutoSandbox Disabled
    - HIPS Safe

I guess my signature updates the flavor of the week this week. Locked the **** down.

Webroot Secure Anywhere 2014 // AppGuard 4.0 // BitDefender 2014 Total Security // Malwarebytes Pro // Sandboxie // EMET 4.1 (also Norton DNS)

Whoa. That's a bit much. You're not having any conflicts with all that running?

You can still be locked down with just Webroot SecureAnywhere 2014 + AppGuard 4.0 + Sandboxie + Norton DNS.

In my opinion, the rest is a bit much.

More doesn't always mean better, just sayin'

So I've started using my Raspberry Pi, and that has forced me to use linux. I'm only ssh'ing to the Pi now, but I'm slowly learning the file system and how linux works and I'm actually liking it. It has motivated me to finally give linux a good try and thus I have setup Mint in a VM. I'm actually typing this from my VM. Like I said, so far, I'm enjoying it. The only thing holding me back from Installing Mint on my actual drive is game support. I'm considering dual booting and only booting to Windows to game but we'll see.
