Back to no realtime protection for me. It's awesome just how much faster my computer is.

So currently my only security software is MBAM for on demand scans only, as I found the realtime protection using too much CPU use for my liking.

^ Yep ^ As long as you keep any new files introduced to your box (whether via a browser or removable media) sandboxed, and scan it with something on demand before removing it from the sandbox, you don't really need a real-time AV.

I really like VT Hash Check. It's so ideal for that job because you get close to 50 opinions. It includes MBAM, but I have that app anyway for full scans. And I also have Hitman Pro (portable only) for full scans. And that's it. Box is light as a feather.

Even with light AV's like Avira, which is probably the lightest I've ever seen besides Nod32 v2.7, you can notice an obvious difference once you remove it.

My setup hasn't changed in ages and won't as long as I'm on XP. Sig, all the system hardening/trimming I can without breaking the OS. Sandboxed Firefox with NoScript, ABP, RP, CS Lite, Private Tab, HTTPS-Everywhere & others. Safe browsing habits. Strong passwords/keys. Shadow Defender and Macrium Reflect with several images. 3 different backups (external HD, extra SATA HD, encrypted USB stick).

But mostly the safe usage above all else.

Though I'm still eagerly awaiting an OpenEMET like the "crazed fan" I am... ; ) It'd be the perfect icing to my cake.

Back to wearing my fancy suite of armor. Nothing runs without my explicit permission so far.

    From their FAQ...
Can two antivirus software programs run on my computer at the same time?
Yes, Baidu Antivirus is compatible with other antivirus software perfectly.

But I still would like to know your opinions

Not sure, but didn't we have a discussion a couple months back in the Baidu thread that Baidu said it was OK to use their AV together with another AV on one part of their site, and at the same time on some other part of their site they said the opposite? :doubt:

Well I know you like to play around but looking at your sig.....IMO adding Baidu is what your username says :D

Edit:Yep I found it in the Baidu thread, this is funny considering you gave another FAQ answer here:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2244320&postcount=454

I believe the first quote above is from the first FAQ, and the second quote is from their updated FAQ.

    Win 8.1 x64
    EMET 4.1 (Recommended settings)
    Windows Defender
Windows Firewall + NAT + HW FW (RT-N66U)
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware FREE (random scans)

Considering switching from Defender to Comodo Antivirus FREE but does anyone have any explanations why should NOT I switch? :) Kaspersky AV 2014 is tempting but the price is way too high for just an AV and Comodo AV seems to be quite solid if it really works without any issues?

Are you referring to the fantasy prices from the official homepage? Kaspersky products are really cheap on ebay. On ebay Germany I can get a single KAV 2014 license für around 8-9€ (appr. 12 USD).
