Ready now to remove an XP machine from my home network.
Decided to make the move before support ended.
Will now just be running two W7 boxes.
I think things will be more secure this way.

Installed EMET 4.1. So far all is well with Sandboxie and MBAM pro. Uninstalled PFW and using Windows firewall with default settings. The rest is re my signature.

Good Morning! That's correct Rompin' G-Data during it's first couple of days on my system is O.K. then when it gets into the kernel level...that's when the slow down takes effect. Otherwise I really enjoy it's configurability...and having a proper firewall is an advantage. But with Eset...improving it's detection...it's kind of a no brainer...for the moment...LOL! I'm thinking of updating my computer in the new year...and at that time...I might think of re-installing G-Data...but Eset at the moment is very Impressive! Unleaded!...LOL! Sincerely...Securon

Setup is my in my signature. Right now I am using Windows Firewall Control, should I replace it with Comodo Firewallo_O?

Not only is Eset lighter, it also has much better detection now.

started using appguard 4.0 again. Liking it so far. Running it in Medium. Don't see a need to run it in lockdown. Especially not with CFW running things in untrusted.

Defensewall, HitmanPro.Alert, EMET, Windows Firewall Control & AX64. All running nicely together. :)

Is AG 4 easier to work with than v3? I mean do you have to tweak it alot to run with other security?

No, no more tweaks necessary. Anti-Virus products should run nicely with AppGuard. The only adjustment I know of is Sandboxie, where you either have to set C:\Sandbox as a user-space folder or give read/write permissions to it.

So with my current setup all I'd have to tweak is for sbie, erp is fine without tweaking?

Think I'm going to stay with these 3 for a while: Webroot SecureAnywhere, AppGuard and Sandboxie.

  17. Windows 7 Ultmate 32 bits (E5200 dual core at 3 GHZ with 2GB Ram and SSD + 2xHDD + NAS & WL Router)

    Execution control
    - Deny execute file/traverse folder for Everyone on Temporary Files folder (ACL)
    - Deny Execute for Basic Users for all files outside Windows & Program Files (SRP)
    - Deny elevation/installation of unsigned executables/drivers & active-X (UAC & GPO)

    Intrusion mitigation
    - Windows FireWall set to filter both in- and outbound traffic and disabled risk-ware services (GPO)
    - Run IE and (locked) add-ons in protected mode & block program download (GPO), HTTPS pinned (EMET)
    - Run internet facing programs as Basic User (SRP) with memory protection (EMET), lock all User autoruns (ACL)

    Black list filters
    - IE smartscreen with AVG Secure search with AdBlock+ and Google ads TPL
    - Scan downloads with IE smartscreen reputation and MSE AV engine *
    - HitmanPro Free full scheduled scan before monthly image backup

    * Found a GPO adm template to control MSE 4 and set it to scan "file download", so now both downloads and mail attachements covered by AV with a CPU impact of less than 0.1% :thumb:

CIS (AV stateful, HIPS on, Sandbox untrusted), VoodooShield (Smart) and WSA IS Max settings. Occasionally I run firefox in the sandbox or in the virtual kiosk.

Replaced Malware Defender with ESET Nod32 AV. I hope I will stay with this setup for a while.

Well it's not working with just adding the C:\Sandbox as a user-space folder, so I will have to give it permissions I suppose.
