I would actually disagree with your view on the comodo av.
I think its detection is on a par with other av,s and in some cases its even better plus its far lighter than it used to be.:)

That's why I only use Comodo Firewall.

Pd: About the AV, I still test it whenever a new version of CIS arrives, but I can still feel the drag on my system. Maybe someone with a better rig can't feel it, but it's not my case :).

Of course, you know that you are at "risk" when disconnected from the Net. ;)
BTW, you could add Panda Cloud and support nice AV from your country...

I really don't think I need an AV right now. Anyway, I don't remember last time I've been without internet :) .

Yeah I ask myself and I get the answer : I rarely or never pick up malware during normal pc activities as I'm following safe computing practices like not clicking on everything.
That means I don't need an AV or firewall altogether. Only to check with on-demand scanners once a month to see if I'm okay. And I'd be good to go. Adware and other annoyances can be eliminated with a few add-ons and browser settings.

Well thats a tough question and answers will vary.
Upon research of comodo firewall it would appear it cannot resist direct attack where as other firewalls do.

Its a mixture of things and im trying to say that no 1 single firewall can be termed the best because everyone of them has its strongpoints and weaknesses.

    Thanks.

So i decided to give Qihoo 360 another try. What do you guys think? Think i can be happy with it? So far i like it the only problem so far is that the RAM usage increased.by about 20% and im seeing constant HD ussge due to 360 (alot more so than avast)

On my PC Qihoo impact was unnoticeable even alongside CIS.

    Hi LoneWolf,
can you provide hash MD5 or SHA-1 for this version of SD?

    Checksum (MD5): 4ed0f50233680ffc37fbe5cf8057c634 (32-bit)
Keep in mind there is another legit/official version of 1.1.0.325/32bit with a different hash, reason being that shortly after the release I obtained, a bug or a supposed bug was reported and supposedly fixed. I never encountered any such bug so I simply remained with the first release.

The same here. Running a dual core with 4gb memory. Qihoo 360 Security impact is null. Now that.doesn't mean it shows no spikes occasionally. It does but only periodically but if it goes thru a process of quarantining a target, then it raises some activity and CPU jumps but not enough for serious concern and it quickly levels off again.

I'm comfortable with this triple engine AV.program now.

Very nice EASTER. I'm still debating lol. Oh well this new CIS seems to be working out for me well so far. I'm sure ill try out the new triple 360 AV eventually though, it's so tempting.

I just added AES Crypt to my arsenal http://www.aescrypt.com/

Great little encryption utility, with a simple right-click contextual menu :thumb:

Just that using Avast with a third party firewall is useless as they can't detect the proxy Avast uses to filter http traffic.

I don't think that's entirely true. I've used Avast with Comodo firewall and private. Both times Avast's web and network shield worked without issue. Most 3rd party firewalls allow Avast's network traffic.
