HIPS is effective and useful. You can give it in training period and all will be silent. :)

Yeah but with all the components of Comodo suite, on demand scanners, imaging software, safe computing practices, etc. what chance you got to catch an infection given you're an general computer user and not playing with malware for research or plain fun?

I love NVT ERP and have a license myself. I'm just saying if you got another pc just throw in ERP, a decent AV, a couple of on-demand scanners, a good imaging software, make use of Win FW and follow safe careful computing practices most importantly not click on everything. And you'd be good to go.

Why complicate things by adding more and more. More doesn't always mean better.;)

    Best Wishes,
    Amit

MBAM Pro is not that great. We love MBAM and want the development to continue. We encourage getting MBAM Pro for that. But while MBAM on-demand is the best, MBAM Pro is nowhere as strong and effect with the realtime protection.

Well he was referring to a NoVirusThanks Exe Radar Pro software that I was talking about with TyRidian. So you might wanna research for Exe Radar Pro. Very effective software. Not needed with you setup though. But hey, that's only my opinion.;)

Good going. But using Nod32 with EAM is completely unnecessary. EAM was complementary back in the old days of A squared. But now it's a complete AV suite. Only compatible now. It even has two engines, one being Bitdefender!

You explained that quite well, which gives me more reasons to use this setup.

    Thanks for your reply :thumb:

I thought I should mention that I wasn't having any issues with the setup I mentioned earlier with using Xmarks until just the other day. At that time, I had done a clean install and updated to the newest version of Sandboxie, Emet, and I believe Xmarks, all at once so it's hard to track down the cause.

    Hi there,
Depending on your computer specifications either of those 2 set-ups seem solid to me.
If i may add,i dont think i would run ERP and CIS together as i feel either of those 2 programs should be quite sufficient depending on what sort of user you are of course.

Personally i would go with either configuration but at a push i would choose number 1 with a few tweaks lol.

Sorry if this does not help in your decision but thought i would add my 2 cents worth.

    Why thank you.

Yes I have, but unfortunately I do not have the resources to run a full VM such as VirtualBox.
Maybe when I upgrade, whenever that might be. :D

Hey there hope everyone's having a great weekend. So based on some research and advice here I've made more changes. Now running:

    REAL TIME:
CIS 6.2 (everything enabled Safe Mode + Comodo Secure DNS Servers + Cloud based Behavior Analysis)
    Windows Defender ON
    Winpatrol free
    EMET 4.0
    IE10+ActiveX Filtering+SmartScreen
    Alternate browser: Comodo Dragon

    ON DEMAND:
    MBAM Free
    TDSSKiller

I'm still thinking I'd like some sort of either light weight companion cloud based AV and/or some sort of web browser/anti phishing s/w

    Thoughts?

IMHO, Windows Defender and WinPatrol are redundant in this setup.

How so? Defender is anti spyware/anti malware/AV if I'm not mistaken and Winpatrol doesn't do any of that

Although Winpatrol is a fine program (love Bill's ethics) I wondor what benefit it brings with CIS installed.
I would just add DrWeb CureIt for on demand along with what you already use along with something like
GMER and I believe you would be covered well along the lines of on-demand. That would leave CIS as
pretty much you only realtime protection, as which I would recommend Sandboxie
(Don't know if CIS +SB get along as I do not use CIS) but if they do I would think you would be pretty much covered.

Well after my Desktop got barbecued from a bolt of lightning a while back I had to rely on the kindness of a family member with a hand me down Desktop till I can afford a newer machine. My current box is about 12 years old and running a Celeron processor with limited Ram and memory. Someday soon I will upgrade to a more modern system as all the unexpected expenses and surprises in life must take a break sometime.
