No need to buy a new HD because one wants to try out a new AV :D

Uninstall, and then check here and there manually and if you find any left-overs then you get rid of them. :) FYI I would not install G-Data on a 7 year old PC. Also, there's no need to change if you are happy with your current setup if it have served you well.

Why not to use Advanced Uninstaller? Especially when you install the prog through its supervision.

    Use their own removal tools:

    http://www.raymond.cc/blog/comprehe...lers-or-removal-tools-for-antivirus-software/

    http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

I also use Revo Uninstaller Pro every time I remove software. You'd be surprised how much is left over sometimes. Here's some information on the free version:

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-program-un-installer.htm

    http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html

It gets a 5 out of 5 at MajorGeeks from users: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/revo_uninstaller.html

Decided to look at Kaspersky Internet Security again....it seems really light now and I like the "Safe Money" option. Will run a few days and see....

    Hi RR.

Actually,it works very fine.No slowdowns at all.Memory usage is also fine.

I'm doing a full scan at the moment, and the scan speed is high.GUI is very nice and user friendly.
I've never tried it before and I can't compare it with previous versions.
But so far I'm very impressed.

Any increase in Protection by using Spybot Search & Destroy's Immunization is probably insignificant. I just rarely use Spybot Search & Destroy for Secure File Deletion.

    I changed my setup to:

    Windows 8 Pro
    Windows Defender
    Windows Firewall

I don't know if EMET 3.0 works in Windows 8 but I'll wait for the next non-beta version.

I just upgraded to ESET NOd32 Antivirus 6 on one of my PC's. When you first installed ESET NOD32 Antivirus did you do anything with the HIPS settings or just leave the settings at the default? I read somewhere that some people set the HIPS to Learning Mode for a while.
