Not really, I tested it some time ago and I was wondering if the real-time protection is quick enough since I couldn't figure it out myself unless I buy a license. Regarding using a HIPS, well I could just simply make a custom whitelist but somehow I always hesitate about using one. On one side, I don't like being bombarded with popups. On the other, I just feel not secure enough to tick the "remember my decision" option or any other settings which suppress the popups. Guess HIPS isn't really my cup of tea. :D

Can you give me an example?
I guess it is because of Vulnerable Processes (rundll, regsvr, msiexec, wscript,...). If that is true, you could:
    a) remove mentioned processes from the list (it lessens the security)
    b) use "Whitelist CommandLine" option (and sometimes with wildcard editing) when answering a popup

I'd say adding a secure DNS filter like Norton DNS or OpenDNS won't hurt. ;)

    Hi Securon,
Sorry for my question. I am just trying to understand, nothing else. What is the benefit to keep changing your security every two days? Are you doing it for fun, is it a hobby? Thanks and have a nice evening.:)

The odd thing is that as much as everybody is talking about malware, there isn't any around or at least it isn't as ubiquitous as some people make it to be. I have 4 machines running without active guard, only on demand scanners and Sandboxie, and in one year nothing has ever been detected by several scanners, absolutely nothing. As far as I'm concerned it's all FUD.

I think if it wasn't for members like jmonge, trjam, Securon and some others that like to try different security software every 24 hours, we wouldn't have heard of many products or had a brief review of each one, so I think it's good to have them try all the products available even if that means their HDD's will suffer. :D

BTW, I agree with Osaban. I manage several machines with XP Pro and 7 Enterprise with admin accounts and imaging software and light virtualization sotware have always been in place and so far no complains for over 3 years...

Eh, I can still be secure under unpatched XP SP2 with pure (read: no addons) Firefox. Zero-day is overrated IMO. Most infections that I know come from software installations, usually illegal software.

Aside from HitmanPro and Emsisoft's GIGANTIC Emergency Kit, I don't know. Microsoft has Safety Scanner and Removal Tool but I have never used it so I can't give opinions on those.

What i'd like to know...Are all of you un-installing manually or using images/rollback software when changing config's frequently...I know jmonge does it manually i'm pretty sure.
