OTE=mhl6493]Just curious, did something specific happen with Avira, or did you just decide to make a change?[/QUOTE]

    Nevermind.
    Gone back to avira.:thumb:

    Man, that was fast. :D

I used MSE for about a year, Avast! for about a year as well, and Avira for about two years or so (maybe even three). Am I the winner now?

More than okay. Especially if you know what you are doing on the internet. Just for fun you might take a look at Sandboxie sometime.

COMODO Firewall (HIPS is disabled, BB is enabled)
    Bitdefender Antivirus Free
    Norton ConnectSafe

Imitating (almost, not all) Kees settings in COMODO Firewall, I have a very quiet security without user interaction. :D

Have been running with Avast! for a few days. No problem so far. I asked my brother if he ever got BSOD with Avast!, he said he never had any. So perhaps it was my setup which caused BSOD back then. It's so smooth and lightweight now. I'm in love with Avast! again. :-*

Alright RejZoR, I'll admit it. You're right, and I was wrong. Totally wrong. Avast! isn't buggy and a troublemaker as I said. And I appreciate that they allow me to choose what components to install and what not to, so I still can use it as a basic AV. Therefore, sumimasen. m(_ _)m

Has anyone tried Blue Point Security lately? I remember it was pretty good since it's whitelist + cloud. But I haven't seen it mentioned here in a long time...

I happen to have a license, I might give it a go again.

    Thanks

  18. I would advise EAM or WSA, since you allready use EAM, here are some tweaks for WSA (use it on my wife's laptop, who is allergic to security pop-ups and questions she does not know the answer to). I have set the slider to set and forget in main setings window of WSA.

1.TOP LEFT Monitor internet facing software ==> WSA keeps them in a LUA-sandbox simular to OA's / Sandboxie run safer or drop rights.

2 TOP RIGHT Tweak heuristics, depending on the risk of the source, e.g. all executables from Internet are only allowed when they are seen by a large portion of the WSA community = Anti Executable for Zero Day threats.

    3. BOTTEM LEFT Extend Identity protection also to HTTP sites, add the options in red to prevent the browser from being changed by third party binaries = When using chrome, nothing can break out of its sandbox, because the sandbox program itself is protected from being changed.

    4. BOTTEM RIGHT Use FireWall to warn for untrusted processes going outbound (=allow signed programs from trusted vendors, block unknown), to make it a very user friendly FW (only alarming/warning for exceptions).

Bottemline you get OA and EAM protection (only detection of EAM is better in tests) in one ultra light and user friendly application: WSA

Since PREVX4 came out of beta I have it running on her laptop. First time I have not had one single complaint about my nerdy/paranoid/insane security illness (as she calls it). So it is a win-win: I am happy I have security in place to prevent her shooting in her own foot, she is happy WSA does not interfere with her PC usage habbits

Added Outpost Security suite....Minus the AV/AM. Weird that it actually installed without a hitch. Love having my full firewall back.

I know that webroot has one but I feel a little more comfortable with a full 3rd party firewall with hips and outbound. It's running about 45k but it's fairly light. Do I really need NVT thanks even though I have the HIPS in Outpost? Whatcha think?

Does Outpost HIPS have process execution control?

Would you do any of these settings differently if you were running Sandboxie with WSA?
