ZoneAlarm AV is powered by Kaspersky sigs and does well in AV-Test so I guess it can't do that bad right?:)

That's why i have the HIPS from Privatefirewall but most of all,Sandboxie. In case of AVG miss something.I do daily scans with MBAM and Hitman Pro.In case of malware intrusion,i'll decide if i'll ditch AVG or not.Because we all know that no AV is perfect and sticking with what's suite you better is the way to go.And honestly,i don't think AVG detection is that bad...

Doesn't that get old very fast? I mean having your computer run up to 100% once a day everyday. That's why I gave up on "on demand" scanners. Same reason I gave up on HIPS, too much interference.

You would sooner enjoy the interference of malware instead.?:cautious:

Thats one of the reasons I gave up on using on demand scanners as well as real time antiviruses.

    My computers are happier now.

It is a myth that scanner are needed to keep a computer clean. Myself, I am a guy with little knowledge about computers but I have learned how to keep my computers clean without using any scanners. Its not hard to do, actually it is very easy.

No,it does not.5-6 min per day is nothing.Well,i envy you...i'm still addicted to HIPS...maybe someday i'll go too AV free...

Sandboxie = waste of time on Demand scanner's as they come up empty every single time.:D unless intentionally allowed out of its maximum security prison.

Well, when I tested it way back in the long forgotten days, it was not that good, and had no connection whatsoever with Kaspersky. Apparently it is better now. Still, I would hesitate. I have done one hell of a lot of testing on AV apps. I am the king of AV testers, lol. There are only 3 AV apps I would recommend at this time- #1-Avast(cause its free and dam good)- #2-Bitdefender (cause its dam good whether its free or not)-~AND~last but not least, Eset in any of it's incantations. Runners up- Avira(dam good, but false positives, and malware can and will slip past it), Clam(which hardly anyone thinks about, but is actually pretty good), Av apps to avoid like the plague: #1- Norton-(like swiss cheese-its full of holes, it aint worth a dam), #2-Macafee(you may as well not have any antivirus at all)#3-AVG(its light and responsive, thats about all I can say about it)~And~ as far as Kaspersky goes, it's good. But not as good as it's supposed to be. period. If you run Kaspersky you WILL get infected. Despite all of their hype, and products, and labs. I don't think they are any better than Avast free. (my personal opinion)

I would not say it's detection rate was bad................perhaps awful would be a better description. And as we all know, and as you alluded to, NO antivirus is 100%, there just isn't any such thing. That is why most of us use overlapping programs, to catch the nasties that do slip through.

Dropped HitmanPro in favor of Emsisoft Commandline Scanner due to recursive scanning ability.
