Hey LoneWolf, how you liking Online Armor AV+? Have you seen what RunSafer options can do? RunSafer and Sandboxie are a great team :D !

    Hello,

LoneWolf is defensewall still needed in your configuration if you have classical HIPS implemented in OA?
I am asking cause i tried now DW trial and i want buy OA, after that i think it will be unnecessary run both softwares with the same level of security.
    Maybe i'm wrong...

I just changed my setup and have not taken it for a test drive yet.
I'll let you know after a while.
So far though, all seem to be running fine with each other.
Gotta give it a few days and see.

Not sure, although I would hate to give up DefenseWall as it is very strong in it's protection.
    Others here use........
    DW + SB
    or
    OA + DW
    or
    SB + OA
so I figure I'll give OA + DW + SB a shot and see how it go's. :D

I see in your sig that you already running Sandboxie. With Online Armor's RunSafer + Sandboxie, you don't need Defensewall.

Warning - Newbie entering this thread. Hope I don't irritate you knowledgeable folks with my lack of knowledge about security issues.

I am posting my setup and the security applications I use to provide me with that warm and fuzzy feeling of safety or rather the false sense of safety. :)

I have a post in another thread on the forum and if any of you experienced and security types want to fill in the blanks or weigh in please do so as I have lurked here a bit and liked the postings I found in all 110+ pages. You are all polite and considerate from my vantage point, so it is nice to see helpful folks.

System: XP SP2 (unsure about SP#), AMD 1.8Ghz cpu, 1Gb ram, Netgear FR114P wired firewall.

Software - AV - ESET NOD32, software FW Sunbelt Kerio PF (soon to be changed), SpySweeper 5.5.7.124, Secunia PSI.

On Demand programs used - HiJackThis, ATF Cleaner, CC Cleaner, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spy-Bot S&D, PrevX CSI, RootKitRevealer, GMER, others as I find recommendations to try them and see if I like them.

Browser - FF 3.0.1 with NoScript. I do not use IE unless I have no other choice. I'll use Opera as an alternative before I'll use IE. If I have to use IE, I'll install the SandboxIE first, looks like it is useful from you folks' perspective.

For real-time, until recently I have been running OnlineArmor, Avira, & Threatfire. But my computer felt really sluggish. I uninstalled OA & substituted Dynamic Security Agent.

Shazam! With OA gone, my computer now has its zzzzip back so this looks to be my *best set-up* (for now).

I would like to know if you tried runnig with just OA and Avira to see if the sluggishness disappeared before you made the switch to DSA?

Removed OA and reverted back to my earlyer setup, minus Antibot.
OA slowed down my browsing and some pages just would not load fully.

Were you using Online Armor Free or Paid? If paid, try turning off the Web Shield to see if it makes a difference.

    @bellgamin

Online Armor Free or Paid? Also, try turning off Web Shield.

With the noscript add-on for Firefox, I have no need for the "Web Shield" or the paid version of Online Armor. Nor the "Mail Shield". I run Thunderbird under the "run Safer" option. If you use other browsers, run them under the "run safer" option and leave the Web Shield turned off.

    Hi,

Hammer, LoneWolf, it is really strange... Before OA (paid) i had installed Comodo Firewall Pro v3 and I've noticed that my browser slows down. When i open new tab in Opera or FX, them my CPU usage was ~90-100%.

When i installed OA full trial, then my browser works normal, but i noticed that after reboot my computer starts slowly... From 30 sec to 50sec... I think it is not too much but i will be very happy when OA support fix it.

Now i wonder, should i stay with DefenseWall, try EQS or trust only OA classic HIPS.

In this situation, I would assume that it was Threatfire since it had compatibilities with Online Armor in the past. Did you have the free or paid version? Just like The Hammer suggested, did you try to run Online Armor + Avira only and see how that ran? Maybe also excluding TF from Online Armor's protection and vise versa?

LoneWolf and Creer, did you post any comments on your issues over at the OA Forum?

I bought OA recently and I absolutely love it. With the advanced mode and other options such as run safer I am seriously thinking of doing without Defensewall but it has been so good to me. I use OA w/ Avira and I have no problems at all.

One thing I noticed that is a very minor annoyance in OA is that it only asks me if I want to go into install mode when I run the main executable such as setup.exe but if I forget I have to deal with a multitude of popups. The run safer/install mode option should be there always.

Maybe there is an OA adept who can explain this to me.

I used OS-paid without mailshield or web shield. I uninstalled OA, then ran just TF & Avira. Very peppy. I then added DSA to TF & Avira -- no noticeable loss of pep.

So far, this combo is a winner. :thumb:
