Yeah. I don't like the plugin and toolbar. TrendMicro needs to gear up and shake off these toolbars stuffs.

I understand keeping layers, but I also don't want any redundancies going on either.

My signatures are usually what I run on my test machine anyways, so far it hasn't reflected what I actually use. So, I have time to think this over a little more, before I decide on my actual setup.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

Yeah really nice to see you back Konata. Good setup. I would get rid of Spyware Blaster. :)

I'm curious, how do you use partitioning to help with security?

Doesn't seem like it should be, but Chrome seems faster to me too when it's sandboxed.

It began to like me more and more how AVG free behaves on my laptop. It's super light, fast, therefore my system acts like almost no AV is installed. So now i have AVG free,Privatefirewall,WinPatrol Plus and Sandboxie.:thumb:

Just purchased Sandboxie lifetime license for the second time as I lost my old one for all our windows systems and Here is why. My 12 year old son laptop I had Bitdefender AV 2013.Hitman Pro and Norton DNS set to option B for porn and malware. He is running IE9 with smart screen filter with protection mode on windows 7 64 bit.Well He downloaded a few things, well those few things he ended up with a boatload of malware - trojans - Toolbars and more tracking cookie then I could count.Bitdefender had caught some but Hitman Pro was a hudge log of nasties.log after log of claro virus, log after log of baybylon and to many others to list. Now thats a real world slap in my face.I replaced a clean image as good as new again.Actually better then new.

Now its Sandboxie with restrictions and limited access. EMET,Hitman Pro,Norton DNS.

anyone using Windows 8 and Faronics Deepfreeze 7.6? When I had it installed on my rig in 2012 just when the final Version got released it occasionally froze my System. I wonder if such Problems are still present. Can anyone confirm that it's safe to use on Windows 8 Computers?

Children are the ultimate test of your security system. If your security can come through unscathed from a night of adolescent internet madness then your good to go .:argh: :thumb:

  17. Had to drop Firefox + Noscript. Too many important things rely on too much Javascript. :(

Currently using Chromium instead (with click-to-play enabled).

I agree. You don't even need an antispyware program any more. The bad guys are focusing on other things, like malware-Java exploits, etc. If you want to keep an antispyware program to run every now and then, Super Antispyware free has a good scan engine. Most antivirus engines now include spyware detection.

I used AVG free for a while almost 10 years ago. Nice program, light as a feather, but it's detection rate then was not acceptable. I had malware all over my system. Hope it has gotten better. I used to test antivirus programs and Norton, AVG, and McAfee used to be the bottom of the barrel. I am sure a lot has changed. I have run every antivirus app on the market and if I were to pick one that I would use long term, it would be Avast. I have used Bitdefender and Eset in a forensics role, as their detection rate seems to be slightly better than average, and Avira is very good, but not better than Avast, and has more false positives than Avast, while missing some malware.

I tested ZoneAlarm AV long time ago, it's detection rate was similar to AVG free, which was not stellar. It may be better, now, don't know. I have no experience with Hitman pro, it was not available when I was tinkering with AV programs maybe someone else could comment on that
