What is your security setup these days?

Got rid of OA premium.
Added NVT pro in lockdown mode.
Not sure how I feel about not having a 3rd party firewall. WSA has a firewall but it's outbound only. I know that win 7 has an inbound but never had much faith in it. Of course I can't remember the last time I had a prompt from my firewall.

 

simple, secure and all about the customer with no hidden agendas.

 

Which is why relying on a antivirus is a waste of time

 

it helps to know if we are infected but like boost says it is a waste of time and money hips is the way to go or even sandbox and imagine programs

Got rid of NVT Pro and added PCAV Pro and voodooshield. Haven't used voodoo since its earlier beta. Seems to improved a lot. Nice and light too. I don't think I even need PCAV with all the other stuff I have running.
WSA, sandboxie and VoodooShield.

 

A HIPS will definitely make you well aware of it.

I should add the caveat... a properly configured one. If you just set everything on your box as trusted, and keep a trusted vendor (white)list a mile long you're setting yourself up for failure... and may not be alerted to such an event.

But with no TVL and running D+ in Paranoid Mode, mine would go into a tirade in the event of infection.

Current setup: XP/SP3, Opera 12.12, always use Netcraft and Phishtank on Opera, to check a site, usually with Javascript enabled, EMET, ExploitShield 0.8.1, VPN4All with change IP button enabled, Sandboxie with drop my rights enabled, Comodo secure DNS server, Comodo 30.22.349 firewall/hips/set on paranoid mode, Avast 7 set tight, Zemana antikeylogger free, Ccleaner, MBAM, SuperAntispyware. Just used Aaron Stebner's .NET cleanup tool to remove and install only the version of .NET framework I need to run EMET. system32\ping.exe blocked in firewall security policy.

 

I wonder if anyone is using or used Comodo Dragon Internet Browser.

Im using comodo dragon and have been for quite a while now.it is quite fast and secure.Ive not had any issues with it yet.

 

Some interesting stuff there. Feels good knowing someone else blocks ping.exe too. EMET & ES running to together... no problems? That's a good sign. An awesome legacy version of Comodo FW. Sweet!

 

I don't understand Microsoft logic. To increase security, the company recommends to use limited user account. But this has led to problems with WGA Notifications. The problem arises because the validation tool writes data to data.dat file during validation process. This file located at the following folder:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%/Application Data/Windows Genuine Advantage/Data

Limited user account can't access to this file. Therefore WGA incorrectly flagged my WinXP as non genuine. Also WGA Notifications connects to Microsoft servers every time when Windows starts. Of course, I immediately uninstalled this "important security update" from my system. To me, WGA Notifications is spyware. That is the reason why I use DropMyRights instead of limited user account.
