Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits with Comodo FW and HitmanPro ad hoc

    Threatgate protection
Browser (Chrome) runs in its own Low rights/Untrusted Sandbox locked down with GPO. Comodo runs E-mail (Outlook) and (Classic) Media player in Limited User Sandbox and the PDF-reader (Foxit) in a Restricted User Sandbox. All threatgate programs have extra memory mitigation through EMET. Additional drive-by protection on download, e-mail and media folders through ACL (deny 'Traverse folder/execute file' for Everyone).

    User space protection
Software restriction policy with security level set to basic user, rules for all files and all users except administrators. Implemented 'Run MSI as Admin' regtweak of Symantec to install through "run as admin". Denied autoruns and execute acces for USB through GPO.

    Admin space protection
UAC set to full, GPO hardening using NSA and SANS guidelines.

    Adhoc Security
Hitman Pro (free) scan and Fully Virtualized browsing with Comodo Virtual Kiosk (short cut).

    Contingency plan
NAS for unattended contineous data backup, Router with SPI firewall, USB drive attached to Router via SharePort for monthly data snapshot (using synctoy) and image backups (using Windows 7 ultimate 32 bits). HitmanPro Scan before monthly snapshot.

My current setup includes Panda Cloud Pro (which has a firewall), SpyShelter (antilogger and HIPs), ExploitShield, Anvir Task Manager Pro (has home page protection, startup guard, etc and is better than Killswitch), Norton DNS and Sandboxie. This setup has been light on resources and very effective. You can still get a free 6 month Panda Cloud Pro license - http://forum.raymond.cc/freebies/274...promotion.html

I was running since August, Norton 360 which was the most well behaved AV and firewall I have used. No complaints, but the other week, I decided to clean out and go back to a simpler setup that works fine for me.

Win 7 firewall with all incoming connections blocked, windefender, and Winpatrol free, and something I have used for years, Spywareblaster. Nice combo, simple and if there is a problem for some reason, I image using IFL or Macrium Reflect for imaging. Also using firefox with Noscript and a simple ad blocker called Blocksite addon that I simply enter advert sites which keeps most ads away. I slowly manually added over time the addresses of ad related origins, etc, which keeps most ads away. So far, what I have done is simply reduce the attack surface, at least a little, with some things I remembered from luciddream, thanks lucid :) ,and regained some performance and disk space, but no complaints with Norton, it was about a third of the size of the BD's and other big boys and was very lite for me. It did its job although it never found anything except I think an infected email, minor problem, and blocked a website if I remember correctly. Also, I have Flash settings to block anyone from storing content on the computer, and I use plugins only as needed.

I also have Norton NIS, which I have not installed yet, and may not as I am liking the simpler setup. That's just me, and less things to conflict, I like simple. :)

Hi Amit...nice to see you :)

Oh hello Jim. Nice to see you too.:) And I like your setup....except for I think there are better options than Windows Defender and Spyware blaster. ;)

So far, I've seen (Actually seen in person) machines that run Bitdefender and MBAM PRO alongside each other, no problems at all. Then, there is a large majority that could not run the two together, their machines ended up freezing. Easy fix if something like that does happen...disable MBAM realtime, or run it alongside a different AV.

I've personally tested the two together and experienced no issues what so ever. I say, give it ago, have it under testing for a bit, if all goes well...Keep the setup.

Current setup: Sandboxie,ExploitShield, VPN4All, Zemana antikeylogger free, Comodo 3.0.22.349 firewall, w/hips, defense set on paranoid mode,Comodo secure DNS server,Avast 7, set tight, Opera 12.12, with private tab browsing, sometimes disable Javascript, depends on what I am viewing, it has to be enabled for my XP/SP3 system to watch You Tube, and here is something you all might be interested in: The news about the latest vulnerability in Javascript, the Java 11 update-I tried to patch my system on Oracle's website, and it's a ratmaze of updates, you don't know what in the hell to download, well, when I tried to download a patch, and I'm not sure I was downloading the right one, ExploitShield jumped out of nowhere, and blocked it, first time I have EVER seen it work. A false positive?? Maybe, but I at least know for sure now, that this program works, it makes me feel a little safer, I would urge everyone to download it. I cannot use Microsoft EMET on my old XP machine, because I can't seem to download the .NET framework needed to make it work properly. That means I have to rely on ExploitShield, and at least there is SOMETHING out there other than EMET that will protect you.
