Sorry for the confusion, I'm not going to be dropping EAM any time soon. It is a very good program, one of my favorites. Though MSE also has its place, I've been told that it's good on 7x64 systems if you aren't concerned with having the most powerful AV, like if you were running Sandboxie. It might have been Aventador who told me that.

Amit, I think you need to visit the disk doctor. I'm sure you're suffering from Compulsive Avatar Disorder. :p

Easy for you to say. You've always been just a teddy bear. I wake up every morning a Hulk, Iron Man, Green Lantern, myself and many more.

Then it's no use for me. As AaLF noted out, I'm suffering from 'Compulsive Avatar Disorder' and not 'security software changing syndrome'.

I removed Nod32 and added MSE.

Good choice Tomazyk, if I wanted to use a real time antivirus, MSE is what I would install. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine and myself purchased the same exact computer. We got us a free one year licence for Nod32. On my computer, I did not install anything, on my friends computer, I installed MSE instead of Nod32. Thats how good I feel about free MSE.

Thanks Wolverine. So far this 7.0 version of Emsisoft Anti-Malware isn't having a noticeable impact my computer. As long as that's the case might as well have it on, it's easier for scanning downloads than what I was doing, using MBAM or Emsisoft Emergency Kit. And I was already running the behavior blocker as the stand-alone Mamutu.

Good choices so far. For me Windows Firewall seems to be enough on 7 x64, but Online Armor is a good one. If you have 2 months left of Avira might as well stick with it, good AV. MBAM one of my favorite security programs. You could add Hitman Pro. I don't feel the need for virtualization along with Sandboxie, your needs may be different. Sandboxie will take the pressure off your other security programs. And don't forget using a system image program. Windows 7 comes with one.

I have to respectfully disagree in this case,i am not saying that MSE is not good, but NOD32 is one of the best,i am one for suggesting free antiviruses, but to those who can afford i would without a doubt suggest using NOD32 and nothing else.perhaps your choice might have depended upon the fact as to what happends beyond the one year period ? ;)

Agreed, NOD32 is by far my favorite antivirus. I've used it for a little over three years now and can honestly say I feel at home with it. With a layered approached it's very very very rare that it finds anything on my system since most malicious sites & content are proactively blocked. You'd have a better chance of being bitten by a werewolf and raped by a unicorn on the same night ... than you would of finding something on my desktop. I used portable (free) on-demand scanners to check for anything that gets through. Looking at Panda Cloud for my laptop. The free edition runs extremely light and Panda is a reputable company so the cloud is not as much of a problem.

Hi Arsenal, I agree with you, NOD32 is one of the best but I have my reasons for choosing MSE over NOD32 for my friend's computer. For one, it is easy for users that don't care much about security. Two, it wont break my friends computer with FPs. For you and me, FPs are easy to figure out but for someone who doesn't read about security, its hard. Three, uninstalling MSE is very easy, straight forward but to uninstall NOD properly, you have to go through extra steps that, in my opinion, makes it a headache for someone like my buddy. Four, I know some people that are using SBIE and NOD are having issues, I want my friend to learn SBIE and he is doing that now. To avoid potential issues, I preferred to install MSE over NOD.

On my computer, SBIE is enough, I am not installing anything but I think those are good reasons to have installed MSE in my friends computer instead of NOD32.

XP/SP3, Avast 7.0, with sandbox, all settings repair/quarantine/delete, Comodo firewall only, version 3.0.25.378, set tight, this is the version I prefer, MalwareBytes free, use occasionally, always comes up nothing found, Eset online scanner, (which I believe uses the same scan engine as NOD 32, correct me if I am wrong), always comes up nothing found, Kaspersky online scanner, always comes up nothing found, Bit Defender online scanner, always comes up nothing found, Opera browser, Yahoo search, (would not use any other combination, have tried them all)...VPN4ALL, and newest addition, ExploitShield 0.7........I know there are a lot of Sandboxie fans on here, but since you can get Avast free with a sandbox, and adjust the settings, why not do that? And Avast is hands down the best antivirus to use in an older system like XP, I have tried them all, I also use Comodo Secure DNS server, works like a charm with VPN4ALL....I think I have a pretty secure system albeit an older one....

Hey zitch, adjusting or not adjusting the settings in Avast free will not get you anything like Sandboxie. The sandbox in Avast free sandboxes programs automatically or give you an option on what to do with a file when is suspicious or unknown to Avast. In Sandboxie, you use the program to run other programs, like browsers, EMail clients, PDF Reader, etc, under its supervision in order to keep your system intact from whatever is happening inside the sandbox.

I ll tell you what I would do if I was using Avast and wanted to use sandboxing. I would keep Avast but disable the Avast sandbox and add Sandboxie. That way, you ll have a good AV that you like, running along the best prevention program that you ll be able to find anywhere.

Zone Alarm Anti-Virus has a behavior blocker built in replacing Threatfire Free and a separate anti-virus. Integrated OS firewall to stealth ports and manage application access to the Internet.

Online Armor for HIPS protection, Peerblock & Spyware Blaster for immunization. ExploitShield to stop zero day threats.

BitDefender TL and m86Security Secure Browsing to warn of unsafe sites - and Blue Coat K-9 Web Administration to block phishing, malware and scam sites from loading in the browser.

FileHippo Update Checker to update installed software as needed and Heimdal Agent as a Patch Management tool.

Only gap is good banking protection software but for now this is a pretty solid security setup. :thumb:
