@ Hammer.......................Why not? I have room on my 1TB external HDD. One fails I still have the other. I mainly use Paragon when I restore an image but if it fails at least I have the Windows image.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ring ring..........Those ARE NOT running in real time. Having things backed up is way far more important then running 50 million layers of security. You can use all the security in the world but its meaningless if you dont have a good backup. Images are known to fail. Hence the reason I have 2. I have a lot of stuff stored on my pc so I want to be sure its backed up if there is ever a failure with my laptop. Boohya. Notice my sig.

People spend time building there security layer upon layer. Trying new things daily or weekly. All to try and prevent a possible malware infection. Well I could careless if I got infected. If all my tools in my tool kit fail then I mount my stored image and I am backup and running like nothing ever happened.

    Hi Amit... Yes.
After SBIE, the AV rapidly loses importance.
    VIPRE is sufficient. :)

Nice setup:thumb: I would suggest replacing pfw with either oa or cmd.:) And why no mbam?:doubt: HitmanPro and mbam are two must have apps for me.;) You could also add sbie to strengthen security at zero system performance loss.:D

    hey everyone!

    still my good old setup...

however, I consider to install Windows 8 on my machine because I got a license for free because my school is part of DreamSpark Premium...

The only thing that I'm not quiet sure about is how long will my Windows 8 license be valid. I read somewhere that the license can be used even when you are no longer a student. I don't want to install Win8 when it's only valid for like 1 or 2 years...

Also is Faronics Deepfreeze and Appguard compatible with Windows 8??

I want to use those applications as a security setup in Win8 as well.

    I appreciate any help! Thanks!;)

    It's in my sig. :)

It's been a long time since I've used Avira. Avira was the first av that I ever used, it was called something else back then.

    removed Comodo Firewall.

i thought it was pretty damn good but 135 megabytes is a little too much when all i want is a firewall.

I find that hard to believe. Comodo is very light. Uses about 12-14MB.

135 megabytes is the disk space used.
it runs very light thought at less than 3 megabytes (without the AV).

Mbam would find anything avast! misses. Great to have as layered security.:D

Nothing wrong with pfw. Only that OA and cmd are stronger than pfw.;)

Sbie would immensely strengthen your security.:)
