Already uninstalled KIS 2012, it was kind of good during the time i used it (1 Day) but i decided to uninstall it today.

The reason i uninstalled it was because a very generous and kind member here gave me some licenses for EAM and OA.
Really thanks mate, i will put them to good use. :thumb:

    Really really thank you. ;)

    New Setup:

OS: Fedora 17 XFCE x86 PAE

Web Browser(s): (These run in two different VM's)

FireFox - NoScript, ABP, Cookiemonster, & LastPass.

Chrome - JavaScript Whitelisting, ABP, Click-to-Play, Seccomp Sandbox, & LastPass.

I run my web browsers inside of a Virtual Machine (One for Chrome and one for FireFox) this way they are completely isolated from the host significantly decreasing risk of being infected. Both VM's are running Fedora 17 and SeLinux.

    FireWall:

    Buffalo Router running DD-WRT
    IPTables on my Laptops

    Encryption:

    LUKS Full Disk Encryption
    TrueCrypt
    OpenPGP
    WPA2 Personal AES W/WPS Disabled.

    Tools:

NMap to check for open ports
    BackTrack to test for issues.

    Thats right! :D

Seriously though, someone on Wilders had said that Auslosgics AV accepted his BD license so I was wondering if it worked for this clone as well.

Why on Earth someone would use an original software license on a clone?I surely won't do this, not even for fun.

Just tested BitDefender 2013 AV..... Silly little AV. Ok, maybe it has a great detection rate, but there's no option to prevent file deletion. Most files i sent to quarantine don't appear in quarantine, excluded files/folders didn't work, it kept deleting my files, lot's of options to do the same stuff, and..... I had to remove Comodo Firewall to install it! Just stupid. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

What's the use of having a great detection rate, if it's unusable!?

Going back to my full CIS setup or maybe i'll replace Comodo AV for NOD.

...i hate it when i spend precious time trying new stuff that turns out to be crap!

Usually, you open the settings in a AV?I guess not, because if you did you would have seen this https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2094602&postcount=71. But first of all,i bet you left the Autopilot on....

Hello pintas, I just gave BD 2013 AV a test run and In the settings I have changed from auto pilot to user mode and confirmed the same findings.Only thing I see is whats in the event logs and not prompt for a decision.I Also tried and disabled the vulnerabilty scan which seem to make a difference on better system performance but no avail on quarantine,as its empty.I disabled antimalware webfilter and same results.I also dont get when the web filter blocks a site at the top of the page it looks like traffic light with a sandbox option that I can click on but it dont open.So Either you and I are missing something in the settings or it dont work correctly.

    See JoeBlack40? :)

Where's the option to chose what to do with the file? If the file is a false positive, the program doesn't ask me anything.
Even if the settings work after boot (haven't tested), why doesn't BD ask me to reboot? It's not a serious AV, in my opinion ofcourse. Comodo has it's detection limitations, but at least i decide exactly how it runs. I really think BD is for small children or old people :argh:

Oh, it messed my Audio driver. It removed the damn driver without asking me anything and now there's no way to get it back. It's not in the quarantine list, so i have to re-install the driver thanks to BD!

  23. Years of using Linux has made me less than tolerant of the quirks and inconveniences of Windows security software...

    Asus Eee Netbook

In a state of flux. :doubt: Currently trying out a Windows XP partition, not sure what I'll do with it.

    Dell Precision Workstation

Salix/Mate with ufw firewall and Firefox + Noscript, and a good dose of caution. Also trying to see if I can do anything useful with Firefox and ACLs.

    Thinkpad 600E
An experiment in security through minimalism and common sense: Win2k Pro SP4 with autorun disabled, all unnecessary services turned off, and all service ports closed. Browser is Opera 12 with click-to-play enabled for all sites; I have Texworks for PDF viewing, Jarte for word processing, MPC for multimedia... And also Emacs and MinGW. :)

(I originally had a firewall/HIPS installed, but that slowed things down too much... Actually I'll note that I got better performance on this machine with Arch Linux than I'm getting with Win2k SP4. Rather impressive, that.)
