    Win8 with Metro. No sarcasm.

Several mates tried Classic Shell but changed back to Metro.

    +1

took me a while to warm up to it but i would not go back to Win 7.

a slight performance boost (always welcome) over W7 and the price are what had me decided to get W8.
    also using Metro here.

Guys, this thread has gotten WAY off-topic.
If you want to argue about process or proceedure, please start another thread.
This thread is for personal opinions for 'product of the year' .

    Thank you. Much appreciated.

Sandboxie beating out MBAM Pro by a small margin.

Sandboxie is without a doubt the best software application I've ever used and MBAM (along with CCleaner and WinPatrol Plus) are absolute 'must-haves' in any install because they just work as advertised and as expected, are continually maintained and upgraded as needed, and work well with most other software.

For the last four years, for me, Sandboxie it is the product of the year.

During this four years, I have enjoyed the internet as never before. This is due to learning a little about security and choosing to use SBIE. In my honest opinion, choosing to use Sandboxie over all other security programs that I have been exposed to, it is the smartest decision that I have ever made related to computers.

I love Shadow Defender but the product of the year has to be Sandboxie which has a very active developer in Ronen Tzur (tzuk) who keeps his finger on the pulse in a lively forum and I would not want to be online without it.

You can post informal results from time to time, if you feel up to it.

After thinking much about it, i guess i should pick the software that i have used more during the year. So:

    - Comodo 5.10, for achieving maturity and thus stability, while providing high protection without impacting excessively PC performance.
    - WinPatrol Plus 25.6.2012, for becoming lighter than before and compatible with virtually any application.

    - Honorary mentions to Shadow Defender, which alas, i can't use with SSD and Avast free, which though did give me some headaches at earlier versions with BSODs.

SBIE, hands down. Whenever I get that 'paranoid' feeling, I just empty the sandbox and continue where I left off. :D

LOL I do this with RollbackRX at least 4-10 times a week.. Something feels off on my PC, or something installed that stinks. I just restore a snapshot. Hilarious. I tried to buy out Sandboxie as a company and product several years back, but he was intent on keeping it free back then. I wanted to make millions off of it. Some people just can't be bought, regardless of the price.

    After 49 posts:

The most listed application is Sandboxie with eleven votes.

Next is Windows 8 with seven votes.

Placing third are (tie) CIS 6 and Shadow Defender with four votes each.

With three votes are; MBAM Pro, Roboscan Pro, and Classic Shell for Windows 8.

With two votes are; RollbackRX, Webroot Secure Anywhere, WinPatrol, Appguard, Bullguard IS, and Ad Muncher.

Receiving one vote are; Acoustica Mixcrraft, Defense Wall, Google Nexus 7/Jelly Bean 4.2, Bitdefender Free, Karens' Replicator, Syncovery, Privazer, SyncbackSE, Skydrive, VT Hash Checker, Hitman Pro, Linux Mint 13, Kirkythea Echo Boost 64 bit, Shadowprotect, Toolwiz Time Freeze, AdFender, Easeus Todo Backup Advanced Server Edition, Agnitum Outpost Firewall 8.0, and Dell Professional Backup Software.

    On a personal note;
I'm surprised that Windows 8 is in second place. I would have thought it would not get that much support.

Based on the number of posts in these forums about WSA and Appguard, I thought they would get more votes.

I am surprised that (so far) Macrium Reflect has not gotten a single vote and that MBAM hasn't received more.

Hopefully, my posted to-date results are accurate.

Many thanks to those who have voted. It's been interesting. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
With that, I hope to keep this thread alive for several more days and post the final results.
